DigitalTrends reviews the XtremeMac Tango (rating: 8/10) and writes;

“The Tango is an awesome iPod speaker system for home or office use. With its two mids, two tweeters, and beefy bass pumping out sound, the Tango easily fills rooms with crisp, clean sound. In most cases, the Tango sounded as good as or better than the much more expensive iPod Hi-Fi. I found myself constantly impressed by the Tango’s performance. That said, I realize that the Tango won’t replace more complex, receiver-based home audio systems. But if you’re in need of a simple, high quality solution for enjoying your iPod music, the Tango is a great choice. Although I love Apple products, I have to say that if you’ve been considering the iPod Hi-Fi, you may want to reconsider. Get two Tangos and a $45 iTunes gift card for less than the iPod Hi-Fi.”

CNET reviews the XtremeMac Tango (rating: 8/10) and writes;

The good: The XtremeMac Tango offers good sound quality across most genres of music, and the low-end levels will satisfy even the most devout bass-addicts. The included remote has a high-quality feel and plenty of useful buttons. The bad: The Tango’s design isn’t the greatest: It looks stark and has a rather large footprint. Certain rock tracks played through the unit suffered from unpleasant vibration, and a background hiss is frequently audible. The bottom line: Bass-addicted iPod-owners will dig the XtremeMac Tango, though the design may not appeal to all prospective buyers. “

Macnn reviews the XtremeMac Tango (rating: 4.5/5) and writes;

“XtremeMac has really hit the mark with the Tango. Their flagship speaker system has good sound quality at a fraction of the cost of some of the more expensive systems. In fact, I think this is probably the best sounding iPod speaker system at this price point. Previously, I thought the iPod Hi-Fi was the top of the line, but if you consider the pricing, there’s no contest…. With massive audio performance and powerful bass technology built right in to the unit, the Tango isn’t designed for quiet listening, it’s a speaker system for blasting your tunes and ideal for any party. There’s not a lot I can fault this unit on, it really is a superb system with a premium design that will make any iPod welcome to its dock. “

CoolTechZone reviews the XtremeMac Tango and writes;

“The audio quality was a mixed bag of treats at best. We couldn’t quite find the right beat. We can certainly confirm the audible hiss in between and at the end of most tracks. However, it was odd to notice the difference in quality from one song to another. Certain songs sounded amazing, while others were pitiful at best. That was true across all categories. One song from Rock would sound great, but the other song from the same genre wouldn’t sound as impressive. Needless to say, we are confused at best about the performance results.”

iPodbserver reviews the XtremeMac Tango (rating: B-) and writes;

“Xtreme Mac’s Tango is a 2.1 speaker system for iPods with dock connectors. Its sound quality and feature set compare favorably to more expensive iPod speaker systems, though its downward-firing subwoofer occasionally causes some vibration and rumble at higher listening levels..”

MacUser.UK reviews the XtremeMac Tango (rating: 5/5) and writes;

“The mid range is a little poorly-served, but the sound is generally very good. The quality’s not quite on a par with the Klipsch, but it’s seriously good considering the price. By default, it’s trying far too hard with the bass - literally shaking the case and producing an unpleasant buzzing - but this is easily resolved by clicking the bass down using the remote control. You do have to be almost directly in front of the speakers for the best sound… We can highly recommend the XtremeMac Tango, it’s superb value for money.”
