CNET reviews the XtremeMac Luna (rating: 7/10) and writes;

“The good: The XtremeMac Luna offers a plethora of alarm options, and it tunes into both AM and FM bands. Sound quality at a close range is good, and the remote offers bass and treble controls. Includes auxiliary line input for use with non-iPod MP3 players. The bad: The XtremeMac Luna lacks an autoscan function and you must manually input presets; FM radio reception isn’t the greatest. The remote can’t navigate through iPod menus. The bottom line: The XtremeMac Luna is a decent-sounding tabletop iPod radio with plentiful alarm options and funky chrome knobs–if you’re in the market for a bedside speaker unit, don’t overlook this one.”

iLounge reviews the XtremeMac Luna (rating: A-) and writes;

“Overall, we think the current version of Luna is deserving of our high recommendation, with only one caveat: companies often make changes to their products in the midst of their production runs (as noted in the Revving link below), but some of Luna’s changes are serious, and offset by the facts that there’s no way to easily tell one Luna’s box from another, and no way to self-update the firmware if you get an older version. As such, we would advise readers to buy from a merchant with a good return policy just in case something isn’t the way it’s expected to be: assuming you get Luna in the form we’ve just seen it, you’ll be very impressed by what XtremeMac’s pulled off.”

PlaylistMag reviews the XtremeMac Luna (rating: 4/10) and writes;

Pros: Attractive design; unique and useful onscreen menu system; extensive configurability; good sound quality for an iPod clock radio; dual alarms with many options; full-featured remote. Cons: Radio tuning is somewhat confusing, and reception is not as good as that of other radios we’ve tested; no day-specific alarm settings; remote buttons difficult to press.”

DailyTechTalk reviews the XtremeMac Luna and writes;

“The speaker was too loud for me at 60% loudness. I guess the folks over at XtremeMac made it an inside joke when their employees werent getting to work in time and decided to make this thing hella loud so they will not have an excuse to be late for work ever again. The device, turned all of the way up, did yield distortion as many speaker systems do but was still bearable. I can be at the other end of the house and still hear the system at 50% so I can assure you that this unit is plenty loud for light sleepers.”

MacUser reviews the XtremeMac Luna (rating: 5/5) and writes;

“Audio quality from the Luna is pretty good. It excels at reproducing detail, particularly in the treble range. Bass is a little lacking at the default setting, although you can boost it using the bass control on the remote. It sounds as good as any iPod clock radio we’ve yet heard.”

MacObserver reviews the XtremeMac Luna and writes;

“Xtreme Mac’s Luna iPod speaker system and alarm clock is a great sounding unit with intuitive controls and a crisp, bright display. Unfortunately, radio reception is marginal and the remote control, while full featured, is balky and has several buttons so tiny they’re barely usable. Still, if you can do without the radio and remote, it’s one heck of a great sounding iPod alarm clock.”
