GPS Lodge reviews the ViaMichelin X-930 and writes;

“The Via Michelin X-930 is a decent first step in the US market, which I expect will not be their last. The low price point is certainly alluring. The navigation and maps are solid; I didn’t come across issues mentioned in other older reviews. The user interface could use another revision; I’d like to see a few top/higher level buttons to get me a plain map view and navigate to “Home”. It’s clear that Via Michelin is aware enough of consumer needs to bring a GPS to the market at a low price with some intuitive visual cues such as the white on green road signs; I would imagine that they will continue to improve for this market.”

Pocket-Lint reviews the ViaMichelin X-930 (rating: 2/10) and writes;

“Aside from the price, the biggest complaint here is the mapping and the unit’s inability to find any address you are likely to be looking for, which is strange considering the Michelin directions website is normally very good. Okay so when the device worked it worked well, giving us straight forward routes and clear on-screen directions, but these were few and far between. The ultimate killer is that through its incompancy, it even made Mrs Pocket-lint cry, and that for us, is the sign of a bad piece of kit.”

PCMag reviews the ViaMichelin X-930 (rating: 2.5/5) and writes;

“Overall, I was sorely disappointed with the ViaMichelin X-930. Its menus were difficult to navigate and inefficiently laid out. For example, to find a list of the nearest gas stations from the map view takes a time-consuming ten screen taps. Some GPS products can find the nearest gas station with a single screen tap, and the average is about four. I do trust my tires to the Michelin man, but for entry-level GPS devices, there are others on the market that are better and easier to use…Bottom Line: There are easier-to-use products at the same price point. Trust your tires, but not your navigation, to the Michelin Man.”

ComputerActive reviews the ViaMichelin X-930 (rating: 3/5) and writes;

“Overall, this is a reasonable package, with extensive POI information that may appeal to leisure travellers, but it lacks panache and it’s outclassed by some of the other products…Pros: Quick re-routing; comprehensive POIs. Cons: A little quiet; interface a bit fiddly. Overall: A great range of POIs ultimately doesn’t make up for some interface quirks and the lack of volume on spoken instructions”

Tom’sHardware reviews the ViaMichelin X-930 (rating: 4/5) and writes;

“All the models tested correctly brought us to our destination. Even if the ways were not inevitably identical, there were no inconsistency or of great useless turning. The best pupils as regards route are the product equipped with the software Navigator de Navigon, that is to say the Medion products. The true difference between the products comes from the facility from use and the speed of calculations of route. The clearness of the chart and information posted is also an essential point not to be distracted and thus to remain concentrated on the road. “
