“This 17-incher also proved to be a gaming monster, courtesy of the Nvidia GeForce Go 7900GS graphics card (including 256MB of dedicated video memory). The P105-S9722 produced an impressive score of 14,855 on our 3DMark03 test-more than 1,000 points higher than the average desktop replacement. Running F.E.A.R. in autodetect mode, the P105-S9722 produced a silky-smooth 78 frames per second and dipped to a still-respectable 44 frames per second with the settings maxed out…PROS: Excellent productivity and gaming performance, Handy multimedia controls, Full array of standard connections, Comfortable keyboard, Good speakers. CONS: Not the highest resolution, Short battery life.”

“I agree with their sentiment that this is a good-looking machine that is well-built with minimal flex in the keyboard and screen… The screen is bright, with good colors, and the now popular reflective finish / glossy screen. I used Pixel Buddy to look for dead pixels, and thankfully I was unable to find any…So far I like the design and performance of this computer. The main positives include a very fast processor and very fast video at a reasonable price. Overall performance appears to be consistent with the hardware specifications. The main drawbacks include the nonstandard keyboard, inconsistent finger print reader and Toshiba’s poor history for customer support.”

The bad: Display resolution could be higher; speaker volume not very loud; small touch pad and mouse buttons; no touch pad on/off button. The bottom line: The Toshiba Satellite P105-S9722 will bring you close to top-of-the-line gaming performance at nearly half the cost of hard-core gaming rigs.”

“Toshiba has created an amazing machine here. I ran some tests on it - very fast scores. Overall the 4200 HDD (this one has pretty fast specs) kills performance by 5-10% over the typical 5400 RPM laptop drive - not much given the fuss many are kicking up all over the internet about it. The 2GB and 256mb discrete video memory do a great job here. 4 USB and a firewire port (uses iLink cable) give good connectivity. Built in Bluetooth makes up for the lack of KB and Mouse ports (could also use USB); adds a lot of flexibility for presenters, headphones and such.”

“This screen is absolutely phenomenal. Movies look crisp, colors are rich, and games and fluid. You’ll seriously be hard pressed to find a better-looking screen on a notebook today…Multitasking is another thing this notebook is good at. I can be watching a video on YouTube while checking my e-mail in Outlook while leaving WoW open while typing up an article in Microsoft Word…I was very pleased that I could do so much at the same time without having to compromise. Nice work Toshiba.”
