GameSpot have published a review of the Tomb Raider: Legend (PSP) where they rated it 6.2/10 and write;
“The sound in Legend hasn’t been sacrificed in translation to the PlayStation Portable. Lara and the other characters are all interesting and full of personality, thanks to some great voice acting…The Good: Gorgeous, varied environments; excellent voice acting and music; puzzles and boss fights are fun and satisfying. The Bad: Imprecise, cumbersome controls; uncooperative camera requires constant adjustment; sluggish frame rate; weak gunplay; the added multiplayer minigames aren’t worth playing.
IGN have published a review of the Tomb Raider: Legend (PSP) where they rated it 7.2/10 and write;
“Only now, it’s entirely different. Lara feels nimble, not at all like the cumbersome character of the past. Exploring vast jungles in Africa or slinking your way through a rooftop in Tokyo now plays out with an impressive degree of class. It’s something that’s readily apparent even on the PSP, even if there’s a huge drop in performance from the Xbox and PS2 versions…It packs everything from the console version, even a bonus multiplayer mode, so handheld owners won’t feel cheated when it comes to content.”
PGNx Media have published a review of the Tomb Raider: Legend (PSP) where they rated it 8.2/10 and write;
“The improved control system also lets you better control weapons. The game includes a lock-on system to let you easily target enemies, jump atop an enemy’s head and shoot them in the air, or simply throw explosives at them…The game’s visuals are relatively impressive. The character models in the game are well modeled with good animation. Lara’s character model has always been great but she was given a makeover for this game.”
ProG Media have published a review of the Tomb Raider: Legend (PSP) where they rated it 8.2/10 and write;
Combat is pretty simplistic, with target lock-on making enemies more of a distraction than any real challenge. Even boss battles are relatively simple once you’ve sussed exactly what you need to do, which is never too taxing. On the PSP the lock-on combat is a godsend, eliminating any problems that would have arose from any implementation of manual aiming. Some close-quarters moves are available if you need to use them, but you generally don’t.
