T-Mobile Sidekick Slide Reviews

ITReviews reviews the T-Mobile Sidekick Slide and writes;

“Strictly GSM (albeit quad band) with GPRS, the Web browser takes advantage of some backend shenanigans to compress Web sites for quick transfer over the mobile network. Mostly it worked OK during testing, but not all sites come through well, so depending on what you like to browse you could have good or bad experiences…Verdict: Distinctive, though chunky, the Sidekick Slide is definitely one for a certain type of in-crowd. Just make sure you have a large pocket to carry it in.”

TrustedReviews reviews the T-Mobile Sidekick Slide and writes;

“The 320 x 240 pixel screen measures 2.4 inches corner to corner, and some web pages are rendered on the browser quite well. GPRS data speeds are dealt with up to a point by server-side stuff that tweaks pages for faster downloading. But not all sites are rendered well and there can be a lot of scrolling to be done to view the full content of a page.”
Rating: ★★★☆☆

Pocket-Lint reviews the T-Mobile Sidekick Slide and writes;

The good: Qwerty keyboard, large screen, instant messaging support. The bad: Only 1.3 megapixel camera, quad-band, no Wi-Fi…To complement the email functionality you’ll also get a fully fledged web browser and the horizontal rather than verdict screen viewing means you can get more of the site on your screen. ”

CNET reviews the T-Mobile Sidekick Slide and writes;

The bottom line: With its slide-up screen, the T-Mobile Sidekick Slide offers a nice design alternative to the other Sidekick models. It’s fine for first-time users but diehard Sidekick fans may prefer the more robust T-Mobile Sidekick LX. ”
Rating: ★★★☆☆

LaptopMag reviews the T-Mobile Sidekick Slide and writes;

“T-Mobile brings new features, like push e-mail for AOL and Yahoo, to the Sidekick Slide, and it solidly maintains the Sidekick’s established reputation of being an easy-to-use text messaging tool. For that reason, older Sidekick owners and Sidekick fanatics will like the Slide. ”
Rating: ★★½☆☆

PCmag reviews the T-Mobile Sidekick Slide and writes;

“The screen is sharp, bright, and tight at 320-by-240 pixels, better than the ID’s dim and mediocre 240-by-160-pixel display but not quite as good as the LX’s luscious 320-by-400 one. It’s solidly built, too, with a dense little body and a soft-touch back panel that makes it a pleasure to hold. ”
Rating: ★★½☆☆

Infosync reviews the T-Mobile Sidekick Slide and writes;

“While calls on the Sidekick LX suffered from a significant buzzing problem, using the same SIM in our lower Manhattan office, the Sidekick Slide had no such difficulty. Calls still had problems. ”

I would strongly not recommend this phone… to anyone. Too many problems plague it currently. For instance, in the one month I’ve owned it, I’ve had about 3 major problems with it.

The first is that the slide will often crash for no reason when you close the screen. It just shuts off. No explanation at all.

The second is that the slide also restarts without warning. There’s no system updates or anything happening, it’ll just restart.

The third and probably biggest problem, is that no data is saved on the actual device. This means that if it crashes, it will have to redownload all of your information from the internet. And if you can’t connect to the internet, which mine currently can’t, oh well.

im on my sidekick slide as i type. it comes in handy when my computer is down or im not near a computer. it only crashes when you slide it down to hard. i havent really had any problems with mine. ive heard that some of the sidekick slides had glitches, and if it does that stuff your supposed to send it back to t-mobile and there supposed to fix it.

the only thing that i find bad about the phone is the size. i usually end up having to carry it in my hand, since my pockets arent that big and i dont carry a purse. honestly though, its not that big of a problem.
