i have no idea how the hell to use this thing. its confusing as all hell! i downloaded well sync’d music onto my sidekick from my laptop but i can’t use them as ringtones. i dont know how to set up the web brower. or set pic id’s. its confusing to me!!
the only tricks i got is how to use it as a flashlight and a mirror. thats all i got and its gay. so if anyone can help me out, email me

i’m pretty sure you need a microSD memory card. but if you have one you just plug the usb port into your computer. go to my computer and click on the one that says sidekick and there should be folders just add music

1. Put the USB in the usb slot on your computer and then connect to phone.
2. Go to your Windows Media Player.
3. if you have no music in there you can download any on your phone.
4. So go to Limewire.com download the application
5.look up songs you want they will go straight to your Media player the ones you want.
6. go back to media player when finshed and you will see on the right hand side of the screen that it recognize your device.
7. Hold down you left key on your mouse and drag the song you want onto the right side of your screen and drop there.
8. do as many as you will like.
9. and when finished draging and dropping push sync which will be in your right hand corner of you screen also……
10. disconnect the device go to the media file in your phone and listen to music.
11. you can also put music videos on there as well all the same steps……..

You can’t. I asked a worker at T-Mobile and she said that you can’t. Kinda sucks, but I guess that’s how they make their money, making money through people buying their ringtones…
If you read, it clearly says that it CAN’T play mp3 songs manually put into the phone, you have to buy the ringtones.
yeah you can. go to zedge.com and click download ringtones and videos to media player, you dont have to buy anythn. but it sucks that you caant use them as ringtones
yes you can convert your songs on your phone i got mine and the first thing i did was downloaded songs to it and i converted tons of songs to ringtones for instance the bleeding by five finger death punch to ringtones you go to myxer.com and create and account and you follow directions frome there

There is no way to make the songs off of your media player into ringtones. You have to go to the catalog and purchase the for $2.49 each.
if on your sidekick 2008 you go to catalog and it says catalog will be avaliable once data service has been restored, then how do you restore it?

you can download free themes/backrounds, and make one yourself if you have the time. But yeahh, hopefully they’ll come up with an upgrade where you can put a song as a ringtonee.

Download your music from a server like Frostwire of Limewire, then save them to your computer in a file you WON’T forget. Then you have to upload the music to windows media player, or whatever media player you have available on your computer, and sync it with that program. Windows will automatically recognize it as the Sidekick 08, but i dunno about other programs. but NOTE** Please make sure the music you are downloading from frostwire or limewire is real deal music. Listen to it before you save it and sync it to your device or it can cause serious problems with your phone. The only other option you have is to email music to yourself or have someone else email you music and then save open it with the media player on your phone and save it. Sorry… Not much you can do without the computer when it comes to this phone. That’s why it’s called a “Smartphone”. Good luck.
Does anyone know how to make your own themes for free?
Yeah man its not hard at all. download one from sk3themes or one of those websites, open up the folder and replace the pictures with your own (make sure you rename them to what was originally there) just make sure that the picture is about the same dimension as your screen (ive set mine at 400×208) oh and i think saving it (after youve edited the dimensions) as a .png would be a good idea. i havent tried it with a jpeg but i think the layering of some jpegs isnt conducive to the functionality of the phone.
or you could just go to sklxthemes.com or sx08themes.com they have a link to were you can make themes just by putting it into the program and it makes it for you…
go to sidekick08themes.com then if you wanna make your own themes go 2 upload theme. make any theme ya want!
No music as ringtones. No hacks. No free apps. No jailbreaking… Nothing. This is a sick phone and I love it, but there really isn’t much you can do free wise other than themes and wallpapers from the sites that were already mentioned. The powering system dangerOS that helps Sharp out has completely screwed us this time. But no worries my friends… They said the iPhone was unbreakable and some 14 year old kid hacked it within 15 minutes of buying the phone. There will be hacks. There will be third party apps. And there will be more freedom with this phone. Its an awesome phone so don’t give up on it just yet. Just give it some time and I guarantee you’ll be happy with the outcome.
Well I got the sharp 2008 sidekick & I just did a search on google & found sk3themes. My question is when I tried 2 download it from my phone it said “that we see u r currently on ur sidekick & u will have 2 download from a desktop computer which pisses me off. But my question is do I need 2 use my usb port 2 download the theme from my computer 2 my phone?
You do have to use your desktop or laptop computer to get the themes on to your sidekick. you cant extract the file on your sidekick. you need your usb port to hook it up to it then compress the file and make a folder that says themes and put it on your sim card. then you extract it to your sidekick.

You have to have a memory card. Then you plug your sidekick into the computer via USB and open explorer. go to where you have music saved and drag the music to the file named Music on your sidekick.

Nothing right now… But be patient. Its gonna be here soon. I’m a huge hack fanatic. And i’m dying for third party apps, but Danger OS is hardcore AGAINST third party apps right now. There’s nothing but what you see in the dowload caalogue on your phone. Sorry.

You can’t. Sidekick specifically put a lock on that phone for just that reason. She has to either personally tell you her password, or take the password off. If the phone were ever stolen it would be useless, and that’s exactly why they put the program on the phone in the first place, You’re $hit outta luck my friend. You might wanna start being nice to her so she will give you the password. otherwise the phone you have is just a paper weight for the time being.

i hope you got the password off but there is a way to get it of…if you call tmobile and tell them you bought it off of ebay r something and they cant remember the password they’ll give u a combination to get the passcode off

SUCH A BAD IDEA! I know everybody wants to put music on the phone, and i know everybody wants games and backgrounds and themes, but it’s a really bad idea. I am ALL about some hacks and jailbreaking, but when it comes to the sidekick 08, if you push to keep donloading content that isn’t given to you through the OS, then you’re gonna fry your phone. i’ve bricked my phone twice doing this. And i won’t do it anymore. I finally bought a classic iPod (120GB) and that’s all i’ll use as far as dowloading music and games and movies goes. I know you were told that the phone is meant for those types of things… But it’s not. All your going to get here is a VIRUS. And it sucks! I HIGHLY recommend you to just stay patient with DangerOS and let them upload third party apps so that you can do all the things you want to do with no problems, no viruses, and no phones being turned into paper weights. But if you wanna keep dowloading content from who knows where, be my guest. You WILL get a virus soon enough, and you’ll be wishing you’d have just waited. Please don’t do it. This is a GREAT phone with GREAT potential. And you’ll be thanking me when someone else on this website gets a virus from not paying attention, while you’re phone is working perfectly because you did. Just give it some time and enjoy your phone the way it is for the time being. If you’re pissed about the way the operating system works… That’s too bad. You should’ve looked into it before you bought the phone. Maybe then you wouldn’t be having all these problems. Good luck.

This is the worse phone. If you are looking for a pda don’t get this phone. One the broswer sucks they say view the web like on your computer that is a lie. Many site don’t load because of a script error which really pissed me off. Then you cnnot add hotmail as an email account. But it supports msn messenger that doesn’t make sense. The speaker sucks and is not loud enough. Then let’s talk about t mobile and the fake insurance that you have to pay a dedutible for everything. But if your phone has a bug or acts funny. Not if it breaks. So dont get insurance its not worth it just broke the screen on my sk and they asked for $150 before they send me a refurb phone. I mean a refurb for $150 I might as well get a new phone.
okay theres this place called CPR (Cell Phone Repair) in riverside, Ca. you can ship your phone out to them and they can fix almost anything wrong with your phone. My screen broke and i could not see anything, it was completly black and cracked. i drove up there and within 45 minutes my phone was fixed and great again in a short amount of time! They are really great. and really cheap, i cost roughly 100 dollars.

Waz up sidekick users I’ve found out how to get music on your phone easy
1.If you have a xbox 360 or a PS3 (playstaion 3) and you have music on it plug your phone in to it using your usb cord then press copy
2.You can get songs from limewire youtube and itunes
3.You can plug your ipod to your game system xbox360 or PS3 then save it then take your sidekick plug it in also and copy
4.Or you can take your sidekick to a friends computer go to windows media player and search for songs then download

I’m not understanding what the issue here is with music? What exactly are you guys asking? From my understanding, you are wanting to add music to your sidekick 2008 to play via the media player right? All I simply do is connect the phone to the PC via the USB cable, and drag the songs onto the phone’s SD card using Windows Explorer, and that’s it!
Now, if you are asking how to set any of your OWN mp3’s that you have added to your phone as ringtones, that is not possible if you have a T-Mobile branded sidekick. Sidekicks (Hiptops) DO have the ability to set ANY mp3 you add to the phone as ringtones, but that is a feature that T-Mobile has disabled on purpose. People who own Hiptops via another carrier can set as ringtones, but I think the Hiptop name is a thing of the past, since they are now all Sidekicks, due to SunCom merging with T-Mobile.

Hello, I’ve had my Sidekick2008 for a couple mouths now, and I’ve never experienced the problem I am having now. The time on my phone is perfect, its completly right. But when I receive a text message it comes up as a completly different time… can someone please help me? For example, I received a text at 9:54 am, and it said I received it at 5:50 am. Please help :/
I’ve had my Sidekick for not even then 90 days I get with my warenty and I’ve already had all sorts of problems. But the time delay is one that really gets annoying and It happend one random night to me, went away and then came back and now It’s always off. I tried the soft reset and thats what made it go away.

hey everyone listen what happened to me. yesterday i was using my phone fine then i let it charge overnight and in the morning i was using it and it completely froze in sleep mode. the only thing it was doing was blinking. so what i did was take the battery out and put it back in but then when i went to turn it on all that happened was the square with circles inside it after it popped up nothing else happed it just stayed at that screen. so if anyone knows what i should do please tel me!!!!!

I got my sk 08 about 2 months ago. 1 day i lost signal and i had 2 turn it off. So then i have the my fave plan and now it doesnt show up..all i see is the part where it says phone. And so then i had 2 keep turning it off and on again. But sometimes it comes back but then when i loose signal it does the same thing over again. And it doesnt vibrate, and also….how do i rest the account that i made when i first got it?
