T-Mobile MDA Vario II also called HTC Hermes is a HSDPA (high-speed downlink packet access) Pocket PC featuring 2MP camera, 64MB memory, 2.8-inch display, 300MHz Samsung processor, Bluetooth 2.0, microSD and secondary VGA videoconferencing camera.

+ REVIEWS:

Webuser reviews the T-Mobile MDA Vario II, they rated the phone overall 5/5 and write:
“Besides super-fast web surfing, the MDA Vario II is crammed with functions that make it more like a mini-laptop than a phone. Running Windows Mobile 5.0, it includes mobile versions of Office programs such as Word, Excel and Outlook, along with Microsoft Direct Push, which automatically downloads emails as they arrive. A full Qwerty keyboard makes working on the move simple and handily switches the screen from portrait to landscape view when you slide it out. Other notable features include a two-megapixel camera with a sports mode (for capturing moving objects) and flash, a VGA camera for video calls, and Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity.”

CNET reviews the T-Mobile MDA Vario II, they rated the phone overall 8.2/10 and write:
“There are a couple of pleasant surprises with the built-in 2-megapixel camera. When you switch it on using a button mounted on the bottom-right edge of the casing, the screen turns into a viewfinder in the usual way. Around the screen are icons, which when tapped give you easy access to settings and options. There is a macro mode and this is similarly easy to switch in and out of — by flicking a switch on the lens itself which sits on the back of the casing.”

ComputerActive reviews the T-Mobile MDA Vario II, they rated the phone 4/5 and write:
Good Points: Near broadband speed on the go, Ability to connect to Wifi networks where available, Slide out, easy-to-use keyboard. Bad Points: Camera slow to respond: Battery life limited. Verdict: For fast internet speeds on the move, the T-Mobile MDA Vario II is great.”

IT Reviews reviews the T-Mobile MDA Vario II, they write:
“I found that holding the MDA Vario II in both hands and using my thumbs to type was pretty fast. I wouldn’t want to write huge amounts of text this way, but for an A4 page or so at a time, or for editing documents, it’s fine. The usual Windows Mobile 5.0 fare is here, for example Word Mobile and Excel Mobile, synchronisation with Outlook, PowerPoint Mobile for viewing (not editing) presentations, Windows Media Player and Pocket Internet Explorer. There is also a PDF viewer, while Bluetooth and Wi-Fi are built in.”

Network IT week reviews the T-Mobile MDA Vario II, they rated the phone 4/5 and write:
“Running it through an online speed test at Bandwidth Place resulted in a 1.1mbps connection – not quite the promised max, but still faster than entry level broadband. It was more than adequate for streaming full-screen movie trailers…It also supports Wifi, so if you’re in range of a public hotspot you can jump on a fast internet connection without cutting into your monthly mobile bandwidth allowance.”
