Camcorderinfo reviews the Sony DCR-SR80, they write:
“Technophobes will be pleased to learn that the DCR-SR80 is an exceptionally easy camcorder to use…If you understand the basic principles of folders and files on a computer, you should have no trouble with the DCR-SR80…The DCR-SR80 is extremely compact, as well. Small hands will love it. Larger hands don’t necessarily need to worry about small buttons because most of the controls are on screen.”

Good Gear Guide have recently reviewed Sony Handycam DCR-SR80 where they rate it 3/5 and write;
“For the most part we found the video quality of the DCRSR80 to be on a par or better than the DCR-SR100, which is surprising, given its smaller 1 megapixel CCD sensor. There were few traces of compression artefacts even on rapidly moving objects or fast pans, but images were generally very smooth and crisp, which is an excellent achievement for a camera of this type. Colour balance was good, though a little washed out on bright shades.”

DigitalCameraHQ have recently reviewed Sony Handycam DCR-SR80 where they rate it 4.33/5 and write;
“The Sony DCR-SR80 is the biggest of its non-HD tapeless camcorders, sporting a fantastic 60GB hard drive for storing hours and hours of your home movies… It supports 16:9 widescreen and 4:3 standard aspects, and makes it especially easy to burn to DVD with a special one-touch DVD-burn button that connects to your PC’s DVD drive through the included Handycam station.”

CNET have recently reviewed Sony Handycam DCR-SR80 where they rate it 7.1/10 and write;
“Image quality from the DCR-SR80 was impressive. We saw an impressive amount of detail for a MPEG-2 camcorder of its class. Images had relatively few compression artifacts compared to those of other hard drive camcorders, such as JVC’s Everio line. Colours from the SR80 were well saturated though slightly cool when shooting outdoors and a touch warm indoors, but still not as bad as some camcorders we’ve seen. The good: Impressive image quality for a single-chip, MPEG-2 camcorder, Decent still images, Hotshoe for light or microphone, Fast focus . The bad: Too dependent on touch-screen interface, Small LCD. The bottom line: Sony’s Handycam DCR-SR80 is a respectable hard-drive-based camcorder if you don’t mind its touchscreen interface.”

A user at DigitalTrend has recently reviewed Sony Handycam DCR-SR80 and write;
“Recorded video like I’ve never seen. I was a little disappointed to see it uses USB instead of Firewire, but transfers are lightning fast. Video is superb. Love the ease of the docking cradle. Menu takes some getting used to, but is intuitive and easy to navigate once you learn. Did I mention the fantastic video?”
