Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 Reviews
Pz10 reviews the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 and writes;
“We are pleasantly surprised at the overall size of the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10. Despite its gigantic 4-inch display, the handset is not notably larger or bulkier than the iPhone. Typically of Sony Ericsson, the design is far from simple and clean. ”
Pocket Lint reviews the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 and writes;
“Timescape is essentially a social networking timeline. Presented as individual tiles, it offers to integrate a number of “splines” which you can pick and choose between, and navigate between across the bottom of the page. The transition between splines is pretty slick, the tiles leaping off to one side with new tiles jumping in…”

“We love: Rachael UI looks great, camera is top notch. We hate: Slow on the web, even with Wi-Fi, only Android 1.6, although that could all change with the final model. Verdict: A fine Android phone, we hope the finalised version is as good as it promises to be ”

Phonescoop reviews the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 and writes;
“Nexus centers around the idea of presenting users with the easiest ways possible to organize their data and to discover new data — be that friends, music, movies, restaurant ratings, whatever. The two cores behind this idea are Timescape and Mediascape.”
GSM Arena reviews the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 and writes;
“Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 takes pretty good photos with excellent detail and colors even at this early pre-production stage. There are no visible problems with the lens or processing algorithm. There are some things here and there that need polishing, but we are more than satisfied with the results.”
Phones reviews the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 and writes;
“The phone is surprisingly lightweight, with rounded edges for a softer finish. The front has only three hardware buttons, a home button flanked by selection and cancel keys. These keys are context-sensitive and change function accordingly..”

Hardware Zone reviews the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 and writes;
“From our time with the phone, we were able to discern that the Timescape interface is both a boon and a bane for those who are constantly connected. For one, it does make it easier for you to access all your content in one single timeline. However on the flipside, if you have too much going on for you via your Twitter or Facebook updates and your incoming messages, it tends to get a little too overwhelming. Mediascape definitely gave us much to praise for, thanks to the intuitiveness of its UI.”
Brighthand reviews the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 and writes;
“Instead of reading a friend’s tweet and then closing the twitter application and opening email to send them a message, the Nexus UX platform lets you easily jump from a friend’s Twitter or Facebook account and email them in a matter of seconds. Sony Ericsson essentially summarizes Nexus as organizing your ultra-connected world and making it easier to discover more.”
pz 10 reviews the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 and writes;
“Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 is far from official release but it’s clear it’s full of potential. It has among the currently fastest ticking hardware platform. The 4-inch screen is as big as you can fit on a mobile phone without hampering usability. So yes, the XPERIA X10 is one great package that will take on the competition with no hesitation.”

“Then there is the image viewer in Mediascape that supports facial recognition. What this means is that you can tag up to five people in a photo and then the handset will attempt to identify those people in other images too – the more you tag, the more accurate it is, very much like Apple’s face recognition feature in iPhoto. ”

Kind of a let down, by R. Adams “Ms. Adams”

“…When I received it and pulled it out of the box, I fell in love. Who could resist the look of this phone? It’s small, but not too small, not heavy but with a good solid weight to it, and little ambient lights that light up in the corners during charging is a very excellent touch…”

Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 Press Release
03 November 2009
Sony Ericsson XPERIA™ X10 introduces an open and integrated world of social media, communication and entertainment
* XPERIA™ X10 is the flagship phone in a family of phones coming to market during the first half of 2010. The XPERIA™ X10 will be available in Q1 2010
* New UX (user experience) platform lets consumers organise everything and discover more with the most open, human and intuitive user experience yet
London – November 3 2009 – Sony Ericsson today unveils the XPERIA™ X10, the first phone in a family of phones to deliver a consistent user experience where communication truly becomes entertainment. Building on Sony Ericsson’s entertainment heritage and combining rich graphics with intelligence capabilities, the XPERIA™ X10 introduces a new UX platform that will evolve across the product portfolio and expand over time continuously introducing new features and capabilities.
The UX platform builds on top of the Open OS and creates a unique Sony Ericsson user experience by combining best-in-class entertainment features with signature applications, unrivalled integration of social media services and a rich graphical user interface. The XPERIA™ X10 is the first mobile phone to truly humanise the way people interact with their phones.
Bert Nordberg, President, Sony Ericsson said, “The XPERIA™ X10 and the family of phones launching in the first half of 2010 underpin our commitment to an open and multi-platform strategy that maximises choice for the consumer and delivers the best possible consumer experience. The reaction from our global operator partners to the XPERIA X10 has been extremely positive and we will be rolling out across the world including Japan from the first half of 2010.”
Rikko Sakaguchi, EVP and Chief Creation Officer, Sony Ericsson said, “The XPERIA™ X10 is a fantastic example of our make.believe philosophy because we are pushing the boundaries of what is possible and demonstrating that anything consumers can imagine, we can make possible. With the X10, we are raising the bar we have set ourselves with entertainment-rich phones like Aino and Satio by making communication more fun and playful, multiplying and enriching opportunities to connect.”
Introducing signature applications like Mediascape and Timescape™, the XPERIA™ X10 lets consumers organise everything in their phone in an intuitive way:
* Sony Ericsson Timescape™ manages all your communication with one person in one place. Browse through your conversations the bright way to check out your Facebook™, Twitter™, photos, emails, and texts all in one go
* Sony Ericsson Mediascape is the smart way to get all the music, photos and videos you want from your favourite friends and artists. It accesses content from everywhere – your phone, YouTube™, PlayNow™ – and presents everything for you
Intelligence capabilities, integrated into Mediascape and Timescape™, can automatically recognise connections between contacts, content and media. By recommending alternative ways to communicate or guiding to new media experiences, consumers can discover more in a truly open way. For example:
* Pressing the new “infinite button” guides you through the connected world, aggregating all your interactions with one person into one view
* Intelligent face recognition features recognise up to five faces in any picture, automatically connecting them with your social phonebook and all other related communications with that person.
Sony Ericsson’s open approach gives consumers maximum choice and with the XPERIA™ X10, users can download any application that they want direct from a wide variety of stores including PlayNow™ and the Android Market™, co-creating an experience that is entirely unique to them.
Sony Ericsson is also introducing the new Hi-Fi Wireless Headset with FM radio MW600. Featuring advanced Bluetooth™ technology and a built-in FM radio, Hi-Fi Wireless Headset with FM radio MW600 lets you stream music to your headset in high fidelity through sound-enhancing ear-buds. With a crystal clear OLED display, easy access controls and RDS radio station information, you don’t even need to take your phone with you to tune in to your favourite radio station.
The XPERIA™ X10 supports GSM GPRS/EDGE 850/900/1800/1900, UMTS HSPA 900/1700/2100 and UMTS HSPA 800/850/1900/2100
The XPERIA™ X10 will be available in selected markets from Q1 in the colours Sensuous Black and Luster White.

i just bought this phone and it’s great, but the touch screen has some mishaps at times, because it’s not as accurate as the iphone and it’s very annoying because I text a lot. Great phone though, I hope an upgrade in the software fixes some of the inaccuracies in the touch screen. Is there a way to upgrade it right now to the newest android OS?
Thanks,
Ken
Hi ken,
I believe you are having problems with the touch screen keyboard. You can always change it with the android version. Just hold your finger in an input box (like the google search for example) and then click on input method. Here you can chose which keyboard to use. I recommend using the android one since it is more accurate. You could also go to the following link and install a whole new touch screen keyboard (my favorite): http://www.xperiax10.net/2010/04/07/installing-the-htc-keyboard-on-the-xperia-x10/
follow the instructions and you will have a great keyboard!
Can’t wait for the 2.1 (or 2.2) update!
Peace.
