“Most of this candybar phone is actually white with silver borders, with the lime green coming into play as a band all around the edge as well as the background to the buttons which sit between screen and number pad. The lime green is also used in the various backlights, which I’ll come to later, and as the colour scheme for 3’s theme. All in all, then, this is a bright and happy handset for bright and happy people….Verdict: When it comes down to brass tacks, all that really marks the mid-range K660i out from other mid-range Sony Ericsson handsets is the quick access web buttons on the front fascia. And if you fancy 3 as your network then the distinctive colour scheme on offer is different too.”

“The good: HSDPA; handy Web shortcut keys; good battery life; bundled 256MB M2 memory card. The bad: Uninspiring candy-bar design; 2-inch QVGA not best for Web browsing. The bottom line: There are more ticks than crosses next to the K660i, but ultimately this is a handset that fails to capture our imagination. HSDPA is nice, but it boosts the price of this phone well beyond otherwise similarly spec’d handsets, and we’re not convinced that the younger market will be taking advantage of the speed.”

“High-speed HSDPA 3G connectivity means web pages are rendered quickly and downloads are speedily delivered to the phone. You can zoom in and out of pages too, and increase text size where necessary. The photopgraphy experience is average, however. A 2Mp camera is now the minimum you’d expect of a mid-tier phone, and the K660i has one. But this model isn’t equipped with the shooting enhancements of the Cyber-shot range. There’s no flash or autofocus, so shooting capabilities are limited…Verdict: A well-equipped mid-range 3G mobile, delivering a decent collection of web applications in a distinctive design.”

The supplied earphones provide a reasonable performance, but switch in some Walkman earphones or a higher quality headset via an adapter lead, and you get a noticeable improvement and a better balanced sound. Unlike Walkman earphones, there’s no adapter included in the box, which is shame. You can though add Bluetooth stereo headsets.”
