AnythingButIpod has news of the Samsung YP-P2 and writes;
“the 16GB Samsung P2 is now on it’s way. That should be welcomed news for those who couldn’t make due with 8GB. The 16GB version will launch in Korea in a few weeks and hopefully the rest of the world will follow shortly.”

PC World reviews the Samsung YP-P2 and writes;
“We tested the YP-P2’s wireless performance with Samsung’s own portable BS300 Bluetooth speakers, and the device demonstrated good wireless range. Given a clear line of sight to the speakers, audio streamed without interruption from about 85 feet away. Through a closed door, audio streamed uninterrupted from about 30 feet away…The YP-P2’s wide aspect ratio and superb screen support great viewing, while excellent audio quality and an abundance of equalizer options are major draws for serious sound buffs.”

LaptopMag reviews the Samsung YP-P2 and writes;
“We loaded the P2 with some of our ripped MP3 and WMA files, as well as purchased Napster tracks.., and found the audio quality superb. Not only was the volume exceptionally loud, but Samsung’s proprietary DNSe 2.0 technology brought a liveliness to the music that few other PMPs can match.”

RegHardware reviews the Samsung YP-P2 and writes;
“Video playback puts the screen automatically in landscape form. The P2’s 3in screen is ideal for 16:9 playback and is just as clear and bright as its sibling’s. Verdict: Top quality audio and video playback but we aren’t wholly convinced by the memory size to price ratio”

CNETasia reviews the Samsung YP-P2 and writes;
” The good: Sound quality; design; price; Bluetooth capabilities; large screen; high-quality video; easy to use; podcast support; drag and drop functionality. The bad: Very few audio and video formats supported; bundled video conversion software is rubbish; no Audible support. The bottom line: The Samsung YP-P2 is a well-designed player and distinctly affordable for what it does. The only problem is that what it does just isn’t as impressive as it could be. It sounds great and it’s easy to use, but the lack of support for audio and video formats seriously hinders just how attractive an alternative this is to players from Cowon and Apple.”

” We loved the 3-inch widescreen, we loved the way it handled user-generated content and loved that we had so many options for both the media we put on the device and the way we decided to actually transfer the media to the device…overall, the P2 is a good multimedia device, and when speaking specifically about video, it is very good.”

Samsung YP-P2 Press Release
Samsung P2 Widescreen Portable Media Player
The Samsung P2 offers consumers fresh ways to experience and interact with video, music, photos and other multimedia on-the-go. With its 3-inch widescreen display, 16:9 aspect ratio and 30fps video playback, the P2 is the first Samsung Portable Media Player to feature a full touch screen GUI. The touch screen reacts to users’ gestures using EmoTure™, an input system that allows the finger to control player functions not only by tapping selections but also by sliding a finger across the screen.
Bluetooth 2.0 enabled, the P2 pairs with a Bluetooth-enabled cell phone so that incoming calls are received through the player, eliminating any need to pick up the cell phone. Callers are heard through the headphones and users can speak to the caller using the P2’s integrated microphone. Pairing the P2 with a Bluetooth-enabled speaker system allows users to create a portable theater-like setup without the need for tangle-prone wires. Users will be able to enjoy this convenient feature by upgrading the P2 with firmware that will be available in December 2007 on mpfreedom.com.
