Samsung - SyncMaster 215TW is a Digital/Analog monitor featuring 21-inch widescreen display with native resolution of 1,680 by 1,050 pixels and up to 16.7 million colors. Other features include; HDTV-ready, 8ms response time, 1000:1 contrast, 178°/178° viewing angle and 0.270mm pixel pitch. It is available in black and silver for around £469.98 (include VAT).

“You get height adjustment and vertical tilt, a swivel base and the real surprise; you can pivot the screen through 90 degrees, which is useful if you are working on long documents…The 215TW comes with an impressive array of connectors; DVI (with HDCP support), analogue 15-pin D-sub, a set of component video connectors, left and right audio input, composite video and S-Video, all of which means there isn’t a lot you can’t connect it to.”

“Samsung’s MagicBright profiling feature is in evidence once more. Pressing the MagicBright button on the front fascia will toggle through Text, Internet, Game, Sports and Movie settings, while a Custom setting will let you tune the brightness, contrast and colour calibration yourself. This is a useful feature for anyone that doesn’t want to take the trouble of adjusting their monitor settings for different tasks, and on the whole the MagicBright default settings were pretty good.”

From the next to images, Samsung does a good job of upscaling the native 640×480 resolution of TV…Pros:1000:1 Contrast Ratio, 300, cd/m2 brightness, DVI, VGA, Component, and RCA connections, Picture in Picture, Wide/Narrow Display Selection, HDCP Support. Cons: Crappy Speakers, Expensive, No Remote.”
