PC World first look reviews the Samsung Glyde and writes;
“The Glyde’s QWERTY keyboard slides out to the left from the underside of the phone; it simply glides open with ease. The keyboard is one of the best I’ve used; the square keys are wide and roomy, and easy to press…In my use, I found audio quality acceptable; audio sounded boomy and full-bodied, with little background noise.”

CrunchGear reviews the Samsung Glyde and writes;
“Overall, I’m happy with the Glyde and I’m glad Samsung decided to bring it here to the States. It’s definitely going to be one of Verizon’s more popular devices. It’s small and light weight at 4.1 ounces and measures in at 4.1 x 2.0 x 0.7-inches. Other than the minor touchscreen glitches here and there, I didn’t run into anything else that was remotely irritating and most of you know I’ll rip anything apart given the chance.”

Wired reviews the Samsung Glyde and writes;
“WIRED Sleek and compact design. Bluetooth compatible. Adjustable vibrating feedback for touch commands. Backlit QWERTY keypad is easy to see in the dark. Records up to 10-minutes of video. Speedy performance. Crisp call quality. Vibrant 240 x 440 touchscreen. Touchscreen automatically locks after initiating calls. TIRED On-screen buttons near screen perimeter can be unresponsive. Automatically switches to landscape whenever the browser is opened. Weak speaker output during both multimedia playback and speakerphone calls. No on-screen QWERTY keyboard for texting. With only 35MB of internal memory for music, shelling out for a microSD card is unavoidable.”

Infosyncworld reviews the Samsung Glyde and writes;
“The Samsung Glyde’s Web browser is among the best we’ve seen on any iPhone competitor. The full HTML browser loaded pages beautifully, and rendered near-flawless versions of our homepage and the full New York Times homepage. Flash didn’t work, but that’s no surprise. Navigating pages was easy, and the Web browser was probably the most responsive app on the phone. Pages glided past at the flick of our finger, and the only thing holding the experience back was the small amount of screen real estate devoted to the Web window. ”

LaptopMag reviews the Samsung Glyde and writes;
“We liked the messaging capabilities of the Samsung Glyde, but were frustrated by its confusing and often unresponsive touchscreen and user interface. The LG Voyager costs $50 more and offers a second display, an onscreen QWERTY keypad, and support for V Cast Mobile TV. ”

Mobileburn reviews the Samsung Glyde and writes;
“The Samsung SCH-u940 Glyde is a dual-band EV-DO CDMA handset. Reception seems to be solid, and audio quality was very good overall. The speakerphone in particular performed quite well, especially for the outbound sound. Samsung rates the battery in the Glyde as being good for 3.5 hours of talk time or 10 days of standby time. We suspect the standby numbers to be a fair bit off. Based on our admittedly limited experience on the device, we expect users will be charging this phone almost daily. ”

PCmag reviews the Samsung Glyde and writes;
“The Glyde is a good voice phone, though I heard the occasional volume wobble. Sound through the earpiece, in general, was loud enough and well rounded, too, with just enough voice feedback. Transmissions through the microphone were clear as well, though with slightly fluctuating volume. Background noise does come through on the microphone. Speakerphone delivery is hollow, but clear. I found reception to be average on my tests. The Glyde worked well with our Plantronics Voyager 520 and 590 Bluetooth headsets, and it has a 2.5-mm headphone jack. Battery life, at over 5.5 hours of talk time, was excellent. ”

i dont like the touchscreen so much the rest is okay but the touch screen if a work-out you know. for all the ppl out there
this phone is a shit
this phone is an absolute waste. im on my 3rd, brother on 4th. employees at these stores are nothing but monkeys with language. all they do is repeat the same thing “the warrenty is over” of course it is over, now that im on my 3rd replacement phone. it wasnt over when i first went back to return it. instead i got a new glyde, yet because every single glyde is a piece of shit, theres not much difference, theyre all defective. the employees know it, the customers now know it, and verizon has always known it. yet nothing will be done. this is almost criminal. they outright do not work and verizon will do nothing but give you someone else returned one or “update the software” ive lost count how many times ive gotten “this software update will make it work” and im done updating a phone every 2 weeks because it is broken (and the updates do jack shit) vuck ferizon
this is so true. i’m on my fourth, my brother on his third. and my warranty is going to be over in 2 months. i don’t even know what i’m going to do when my warranty is over.
Same here, I just got my fourth day. They probably made way too many and are now trying to get rid of them. This is the worst phone ever and it makes me want to go back to Sprint! Or switch to ATT so I can get an iPhone…
Worst phone ever… touch screen is inconsistent and makes you press buttons you never thought it would. The autolock feature is a joke considering I have no data plan and because it clicks on internet randomly I had a 150 dollar overage. Thanks glyde! I have recentley talked to a couple verizon employees who all are on the same page that the glyde is the worst product released by Verizon Wireless. I hate that I paid this much for a trash phone….wheres all the people from verizon following me now?
im also on my 3rd phone and its the worst thing ever..you cant ever controll whare you wana go on the phone, anwser calls, or txt anyone without it flipping out..verizon tells me the same thing everytime”software update will do the trick” but it never does this phone is and always will be junk and if you buy it your screwed because you wont get anything else without paying full price……..
This phone is trash. The touchscreen is the worst i have ever used in my life…hands down
^^^^^^I agree with everybody…THis Phone is a piece of shet…at first i thought it was just me….im on my 2nd one and going into my 3rd. I try going to my contacts and it goes to the menu..the sensors are whack..matter of fact this whole phone is whack..
yes it is. i just got my second one today and it sucks already…
I am so dissapointed. This phone was the biggest waste of money ever. I wish I had read the reviews before buying this phone. I have yet to find someone who has something good about this phone. The touch screen absolutely sucks and the phone goes crazy and never navigates where you need it to. Absolute CRAP!
i agree! i wished i researched more about this phone before i bought one for me and my brother. i got it when it first came out and after a month, it stopped working. verizon wouldn’t let me get another phone since the trial month was over too. piece of shit.
i found the GLYDE to be a very nice phone. The QWERTY keyboard was absolutely excellent! The touchscreen interface had some minor problems, although it generally worked great. This difference on touchscreens (between voyager and glyde) could be because the voyager uses a pressure pad touch screen. the glyde uses an electropulse tuchscreen. overall a very good phone.
exactly its wonderful. my friend has the glyde and its perfect even tho she has dropped about 300 times!
This phone is the biggest piece of shit never buy this phone it is terrible
this was the worst phone i ever had ive had it replaced 4 times cause of touch screen problems also the buttons on thw keyboard r to close to each other and when u wanna set a pic that u took as a wallpaper it doesnt auto adjust to ur phone screen it just zoom in on one part of the pic and that u see and there isnt a way to adjust it ur self sp fuck this phone
this phone is a piece of shitt !!!
do not buy this phone no lie it is junk
verizon does not do anythimg for me
this is the worst FUCKEN phone in the world
it was fine untill two weeks then it went to shit
i dont want a update i have two already
I traded my Krave in for a Glyde because the Krave is just SO bad. I had it for a week and couldn’t stand it after the first day. And I have to say, the Glyde is amazing! Yeah, the touch screen could be a little more accurate, but other than that, I love this phone!
The keyboard is actually kind of big for me! I had the alias (TINY keys) and this phone is really roomy for me.
The main issue for me is the sound quality of the music and ringtones. Kind of ‘boomy’ with a little feedback. I’ve had to make my ringtones quiet for this phone so they wouldn’t be so loud!
I wish I had found this page before I bought my son’s phone. I could not afford to purchase this from Verizon, so I found one on Ebay. Now its is a month later…… Last week the mic quit working…. but the phone was still functional with his bluetooth. Now the screen has gone completely black, except for the brief flicker when you slide it open or closed. The phone is still receiving calls and texts but is useless since it does nothing else but light up the keyboard.
Getting an old phone updated doesn’t make it better for some reason. I bought a new phone with the new software and it works great. only problem is that i had to turn down the sensitivity to medium because high sensitivity causes alot of bugs/crashes (medium sensitivity records my touches alot better). other than that its a great phone and works fine. Either they fixed it or i happened to luck out and got a bug-free version.
Well, i got a very special samsung glyde it seems because i have had this phone for year now and i love it very much! The keyboard is so freaking amazing, not too spaced out, and very roomy. The touch goes wack sometimes but most of the time it works perfectly. The sound is amazing i cant hear any background crap and internet is wonderful. If i was to rate this phone out of ten i would give it a 10. best fuking phone ever
I am going to have to go against the grain here and praise this phone for how durable it is. I dropped my glyde in a puddle of water (rather violently) and it was completley submerged for at least a minute. I took it apart, let it dry, and it works perfectly! But I am going to have to agree with the folks who were not a fan of the touch screen, but overall I believe it to be a fine phone.
same here! i left my phone outside by accident and it got friking poured on and it still works like a charm
This phone is terrible. I’ve had 5 of them, and I got a new one and the screen shattered like 4 hours after i got it….it was “reused” lol fucking verizon….I’m going for an iphone now FTW.
i personalllly like this phone i dropped it in the toilet!voila still works in 2 days! its amazing love the keyboard and other things with it!
this phone is alright.havent had no problems yet…but the touch screen is kinda slow and i have to press the buttons twice sometimes…but i think its ok
the fone is the best fone ever
Worst phone ever! It’s like a ghost is operating it while I’m not touching it. After I LOCK it and place it in my cargo pants pocket it makes calls to people in my address book. Don’t buy this phone!!!
