BrightHand have reviewed the Samsung BlackJack, and writes:
“Obviously one of the BlackJack’s biggest selling points is its keyboard. Despite the relatively small keys, it’s surprisingly comfortable to press. Each key has a good solid response, not too soft, not too hard. The software implementation is even nicer. Rather than having to fool around with function keys to get at numbers and punctuation while typing, you need only press down the key and hold it. Net result, much faster input, less seeking, and a more comfortable user experience. “

PC World have reviewed the Samsung BlackJack where they rated it 81/100 and write:
“The thumbwheel on the right side moves swiftly and makes navigation manageable; pressing and holding it brings up the Quick Launcher window, which lets you jump to your calendar, to music, or to a Web page…Its battery life in our lab test was good: It lasted 6 hours, 21 minutes–more than 40 minutes longer than the Motorola Q, but far short of front-runners like Cingular’s 8125, T-Mobile’s Dash, and RIM’s BlackBerry 8700g.”

PDA Street have reviewed the Samsung BlackJack where they write:
“We tested the Blackjack in the New York City area, and found call quality mostly excellent. We noticed one time when the phone didn’t ring for two calls and they went to voicemail, but that was the exception. The Blackjack is a quad-band world phone (GSM 850, 900, 1800, 1900) so it’s great for travelers. The high-speed network consistently delivered Web pages or streaming content quickly. We love that the Blackjack comes with two batteries and an external charger, so you never need to wait while your phone is connected to a charger…The batteries are rated for 5.5 hours of talk time and 11 days of standby, and worked for about three to four days of moderate use in our testing. When push e-mail was turned on, however, the battery needed changing every day.”

Newsfactor have reviewed the Samsung BlackJack where they rate it 5/5 and write:
“Beyond software, few smartphones match the BlackJack’s versatility. The call quality of this phone is great, and the speakerphone is loud and clear. Here’s an added bonus: I was able to take surprisingly clear pictures with the phone’s 1.3-megapixel camera. The photos looked terrific on the BlackJack’s bright, 320×240-pixel, 2.3-in. display. The phone also has a camcorder mode, 2x digital zoom, Bluetooth 2.0, and a micro SD memory slot to boost storage capacity.”

DigitalTrend have reviewed the Samsung BlackJack where they rate it 6/10 and write:
“But like other Samsung cell cams, the Blackjack suffers from severe shutter lag. You need to wait a full second for an image to be captured after pushing the capture button, plenty of time for your subject to move out-of-frame, or just move, creating a blurred image — or for you to move the phone mistakenly thinking the scene captured but ending up with nothing but blurry streaks. While there’s a self-portrait mirror, there’s no flash, another curious omission.
..Why, oh why, did Samsung shuffle Blackjack’s keyboard? Blessed with Blackjack’s blazing HSDPA online speed and superior multimedia features, one could easily ignore this handset’s other petty peccadilloes. But why purposely place unnecessary and unreasonable hurdles to a cell phone’s primary function? How great your need for a speedy smartphone will determine how much you’ll put up with hunt-and-peck dialing. “

GadgetNutz reviews the Samsung BlackJack, they write:
“The headset is plenty loud and did not distort at high volumes. The speaker phone was great and callers didn’t notice I was on a cell phone. The Blackjack makes great use of the Windows Mobile soft keys – the right soft key brings up the contacts button – push it and type a few letters or numbers and the directory is scanned for matching contacts. Click the center button of the d-pad, hit call and that’s all there is to it…Samsung has added a few nice tricks as well. Samsung adds a folder in the programs directory called “Organizer.” In this folder, there are icons to launch an alarm program, a calculator, D-Day (which counts down to an important day), notepad, currency converter, stop watch, tasks and voice notes and a world clock. All of these were very useful and well done.”

MobileTechReview reviews the Samsung BlackJack, they rated the phone 4.5/5 and write:
“We’re happy to report that the Samsung BlackJack is wonderful as a phone with excellent call quality, louder than average volume and a good speakerphone. And it feels good in hand– like a phone and not a brick. The i607 is on par with or better than the also excellent Cingular 3125 clamshell MS Smartphone when it comes to call quality and the BJ is louder…Web browsing is heavenly on the BlackJack and we got DSL Reports mobile speed tests averaging 820-980k!…Streaming media is also excellent with very short buffer times.”

PCmag reviews the Samsung BlackJack, they rated the phone 4/5 and write:
“As a quad-band world phone, the BlackJack is satisfyingly loud, and voice quality is clear. Reception is also noticeably stronger than on the Cingular 8525…The BlackJack’s 220 MHz Samsung processor runs, as expected, a little faster than the T-Mobile Dash’s 200 MHz processor in video benchmarks. But unlike the 400 MHz Cingular 8525, the BlackJack has some trouble with multitasking…Pros: Smallest HSDPA smart device. Strong reception. Loud earpiece. Cons: Processor has some trouble with multi-tasking. Camera could be better.”

Infosync reviews the Samsung BlackJack, they rated the phone 79% and write:
“The BlackJack does everything a good laptop sidekick should. Though drivers were unavailable at press time, our experience using our laptop over the HSDPA network has always been good, where reception has been available. The phone charges over USB, so you can leave the clutter behind, although we would have liked a standard USB cable instead of Samsung’s proprietary connector. The BlackJack lacks Wi-Fi support, but we found HSDPA to be plenty fast when the signal was available, which was nearly everywhere we tested in New York City (although Cingular’s HSDPA network still lags behind the EV-DO networks of Sprint and Verizon Wireless in terms of nationwide coverage).”

Phonescoop reviews the Samsung BlackJack, they write:
“When held in two hands to type, the BlackJack is well balanced and sits on your fingertips comfortably. The keyboard is pretty easy to to get used to. After about three days with it, we were typing with about 90-95% accuracy. Although the keys look like those from the Q, they feel much better. They are only slightly rounded, and are much easier to press…The BlackJack also deserves kudos for it’s loud and high quality sound.”

Laptopmag reviews the Samsung BlackJack, they rated the cellphone 4/5 and write:
“Another pleasant surprise is support for Cingular Video, allowing users to stream clips from CNN, ESPN, HBO (for an extra fee), and other content providers. When you’re within HSDPA coverage, the video looks smooth, but when we roamed into EDGE areas, our CNN hourly news update looked like a slideshow…Pros:High-speed HSDPA data, Works with Cingular Music and Cingular Video, Note application and RSS reader included, Lots of helpful shortcuts. Cons:HSDPA network still being rolled out,Navigation key too close to Talk and End keys, Sluggish camera.”

CNET reviews the Samsung BlackJack, they rated the cellphone 7.3/10 and write:
“The full QWERTY keyboard is fairly easy to use. The oval buttons–very similar to the keys on the Moto Q–are tactile and adequately backlit for typing in dim light…The bottom line: The Samsung BlackJack heralds another 3G-enabled smart phone to Cingular’s lineup. While it supports the carrier’s video and music service, some design and performance issues trip up this otherwise sexy device.”
