Samsung Ace Reviews
Wired reviews the Samsung Ace and writes;
On the plus side it’s cheap: With rebates and all, you can scoop up an Ace for a thrifty $200. And as a phone, it’s more than competent: Call quality was clear, and the ergonomics were much improved over the original hard-to-hold BlackJack. Confession time: I am a sports junkie. Like a Sid Vicious of statistics. When using the original BlackJack, I noticed pronounced hand cramping after two weeks of solid Internet use. With the Ace I didn’t feel so much as an ache — even after a fortnight’s worth of frantically scoping scores.”

CrunchGear reviews the Samsung Ace and writes;
The keyboard on the SPH-i325 is a distant second to the Sidekick II’s but is still far superior to all other mobile keyboards I’ve tried. It looks cramped from afar but once I started using it, I was pleasantly surprised at how quickly and accurately I could type. If you need a WinMo device and you’ll be doing a lot of typing, this is it…Despite its drawbacks — my biggest gripe being the proprietary connections — I found the SPH-i325 to be a great phone, one I’d be more than happy to use on a day to day basis.”

Infosync reviews the Samsung Ace and writes;
Call quality on the Samsung Ace was good. We got a consistent four bars of service on Sprint’s network in Lower Manhattan, and calls never suffered from static or noise issues The phone also packs a plethora of our favorite calling features, including a solid, loud speakerphone; voice dialing; conference calling; and Bluetooth for hands-free calling. In our battery tests, we managed a call just over four hours, which is what Sprint tells us to expect, but we always like more talk time…Pros: Dual-mode support means Sprint users can bring phone’s abroad. Great tethered modem connectivity. Cons: No IM client, no Mobile Office. Keys are different, but not better, than BlackJack. Seems more like BlackJack I than BlackJack II.”

Mobileburn reviews the Samsung Ace and writes;
“The rest of the design of the Ace is equally good. The trapezoidal d-pad has a very good feel to it, but the chrome on it started to chip off after a few days of use. The keys that surround the d-pad worked very well, and are a bit better laid out than those on the BlackJack or BlackJack II, in my opinion. ”

CNET reviews the Samsung Ace and writes;
“The good: The Samsung Ace for Sprint offers dual-mode functionality for world-roaming, and it’s unlocked for use with international SIM cards. The Windows Mobile smartphone has a compact design and features a 1.3-megapixel camera, EV-DO, and Bluetooth. The bad: General performance can be sluggish at times. It doesn’t support overseas 3G GSM networks and lacks Wi-Fi and GPS. ”

LaptopMag reviews the Samsung Ace and writes;
“Verdict: The Ace should prove attractive to users who want the flexibility of international voice and data capabilities in a compact design. Without Wi-Fi, GPS, and instant messaging, or compatibility with 4GB microSD Cards, the Ace doesn’t have all the features that we’d like. But its great keyboard and agressive price make it a solid option for world travelers. ”

PhoneMag reviews the Samsung Ace and writes;
“The Ace’s 2.3-inch TFT display is slightly larger than the BlackJack’s 2.25-inch screen, but compared to the BlackJack 2’s 2.4-inch display it seems a whole lot smaller. Nonetheless, the 65K colors and 320 x 240 resolution make it vibrant and a pleasure to use. The size of the screen is actually well optimized for watching Sprint TV or SlingPlayer, where images and video look great, colors are bright, and text is really sharp. Being that this is a “smartphone” it does lack a touchscreen. ”
