CNET has published a review of the Philips BDP9000 Blu-ray Player where they rate the player 6.3/10 and write;

“For the most part the BDP9000 was very good–the first pattern demonstrated it successfully passed the full resolution of DVDs without a problem, and this was backed up by another test with marble stairs and a bridge that looked very detailed for DVD…The bottom line: The Philips BDP9000 has some great design touches and excellent Blu-ray image quality, but its high price, less-comprehensive audio capabilities and the comparative affordability of the PlayStation 3 suggest that you should probably hold off. “
