IT-Reviews reviews the Pentax Optio T20, they write:
“The touch-screen is responsive and nice to use, buttons are large enough for greasy fingers to find their way around and a print-resistant coating means that marks don’t dirty up the LCD…Overall we liked the Optio T20, despite minor qualms about the design and placement of the zoom. An impressive LCD and effective touch-screen controls combine with some great results to form a genuinely impressive camera. It’s reasonably priced as well, and a range of additional functions make it more than just a point-and-shoot compact. There are enough settings for advanced users to get the best from their shots but it’s adept enough to handle things by itself if this is what you need.”
PCW reviews the Pentax Optio T20, they rated 4/5 and write:
“Image quality is good, with natural-looking colours and pleasing levels of detail from such a physically small lens. Build quality is excellent. Constructed from a shiny aluminium alloy with rounded edges, it’s both sturdy and stylish while thin enough to be easily pocketable. The Optio T-20 lacks image stabilisation, but the new ISO-800 produces usable results and while it’s not much of a step up from the Option T-10, it costs considerably less than the T-10 did when we reviewed it – making it a much better value proposition…Pros: Large, touchscreen display; built-in image editing. Cons: Can be over gimmicky, no image stabilisation”
+ PRESS RELEASE
A thin, compact digital camera featuring an extra-large 3.0-inch LCD monitor, a touch-display control system, and an upgraded 7.0 effective megapixel resolution
PENTAX Corporation is pleased to introduce the new PENTAX Optio T20 compact digital camera which features an extremely slim body. The Optio T20 is distinguished by its extra-large 3.0-inch, high-definition LCD monitor that allows easy viewing and a touch-display control system for programming the camera. And, with its 7.0 effective megapixel resolution, the Optio T20 produces high-quality prints with crisp detail.
Major Features
1. Easy-to-view 3.0-inch oversized LCD monitor
The Optio T20 accommodates a large digital-camera LCD monitor, which comes in at a full three inches and about 230,000 pixels for exceptional clarity and definition. Checking pictures and setting up functions are easier than ever thanks to the large and clearer displays of images and menu text. And since the monitor sports a wide viewing field, the screen remains easy to see and nearly as bright and colorful when viewed at an angle as when viewed straight on. This is helpful when monitoring shots at low or high angles or when showing off photos to a group of people.
2. 19.5-mm body is the one of the thinnest in its class
Despite the 19.5-mm body that is the one of the thinnest in its class, Optio T20 features an extra-large 3.0-inch LCD monitor. We have achieved to minimize thickness of the body by utilizing the PENTAX Sliding Lens System*1 and high-density mounting technology.
*1 PENTAX’s proprietary lens system: The central lens group slides upward from the optical axis and the front and back lens groups slip under them. Housing the lens in two steps in the lens cylinder reduces overall lens thickness, thereby minimizing body depth.
3. Touch display makes operations simple and enjoyable
The Optio T20’s touch display allows you to select and confirm functions by directly touching the LCD monitor. Its simple operations such as selecting the icon from the displayed menu and touching the monitor take the stress out of setting up the camera.
