Pantech Impact Reviews

Phone Arena reviews the Pantech Impact P7000 and writes;

“The uniformity of the handset is intact when you open it up to reveal the QWERTY keyboard and 2.6” LCD screen which has a resolution of 400×240 and support for 262k colors. If you considered the external OLED screen cool, then you’ll be impressed like us with the amount of detail and luscious colors that jump out…”

nice phone but some drawbacks, By Randy White
Rating: ★★★☆☆

“…It has very good, clear reception and the qwerty keyboard buttons are larger than on most blackberry models real useful for texting.”

SO STYLISH, and Functional, TOO!, By Paideia
Rating: ★★★★★

“..The keyboard is so user friendly and way easier to type lengthy messages than a non Qwearky (sp) keyboard. The touch screen on the outside is nice and sensitive, does what you want. The inside screen’s “looks” are incredible, the colors, the font’s the navigation, all very, very good in my opinion…”

False Advertisement, By coton
Rating: ★★★☆☆

“..The alarm which I find myself using for 5 min. cleanup warning in the classroom and for meds is quite loud and you can set it to repeat. You can choose from different ring tones and a single time, daily or weekend modes. The calendar works a lot like MS outlook calendar, nice. This phone also has a notepad, a voice memo recorder, a world clock, a calculator, a tip calculator, a unit converter, a stop watch, and a timer..”

PANTECH MAKES AN IMPACT AT AT&T

Unique Touchpad Faceplate and Full Hidden Keyboard Combine to Change the Game for Quick Messengers and Social Networkers

Beginning Sunday, Pantech Wireless, Inc., – the U.S.-based subsidiary of Pantech Group, one of Korea’s largest mobile phone manufacturers – will bring “Impact” to AT&T customers. The second Pantech handset to hit shelves this holiday season debuts in two cool colors – bright blue and soft pink – and delivers a brand new form factor to AT&T’s line of quick messaging phones. Impact features a high-gloss faceplate with a haptic response touchpad, two screens and a full hidden keyboard, along with a host of the latest social and multimedia options, to make managing your mobile life startlingly fun.

Responds to the Touch

In a world where most phones look identical and feel the same, Impact puts an end to predictability by providing users an altogether new experience. From the outside, Impact’s shiny blackout exterior is surrounded by textured blue or pink detailing. Each time the touchpad below the screen is pressed it springs to action, reacting to finger taps with a soft, tactile buzz. Impact lets users play and control music, make a call, or send texts without ever having to open the phone.

Flip out

A sideways flip open of Impact reveals a full QWERTY keyboard for typing longer messages, and a range of shortcut keys enabling one-touch access to IM, text, email, and jumping between apps. Users will also find a second full-color display screen, perfect for watching video clips, viewing friends’ profiles, or flipping through pictures. And on either side of the screen sit speakers, making listening to music, chatting on speakerphone, or hearing GPS directions easy and loud. Whether browsing the Web, updating your status with pictures and videos, or playing games, Impact keeps users close to their social life at every turn.

Impact comes preloaded with AT&T’s new HTML mobile browser and att.net service, which combines the best of full and fast HTML browsing with custom features for personalizing favorite bookmarks and local searches.

Impact brings new energy to your mobile life with the following features:

* Responsive Touchpad – Each time Impact’s slick touchpad exterior is pressed, the phone responds with a gentle buzz.
* Options on the Outside – Play and control music, send texts, and make calls from Impact’s touchpad without ever having to open the phone.
* The World Inside – Flip Impact open to find a full QWERTY keypad, a large color screen and speakers, and also shortcut keys to IM, text, email and multitasking features.
* 3G Speeds – The nation’s fastest 3G network makes surfing the Web, checking your newsfeeds, and streaming music and video fast and easy.
* AGPS – AT&T Navigator provides voice-guided, turn-by-turn directions in real time.
* Video Recording and Picture Taking – Take and share pics and video clips using multimedia messaging and AT&T Mobile Email.

“Our customers expect the very latest in trendsetting mobile phones from Pantech, and Impact really delivers,” said Jim Berridge, Director of Sales and Marketing, Pantech Wireless, Inc. “By combing everyone’s favorite social and multimedia options, along with a new form factor which features an interactive touchpad, Impact is a first for both Pantech and AT&T.”

Impact will be available for $99.99 after mail-in rebate at AT&T company-owned stores, and online at www.wireless.att.com. (Pay $149.99 after two year agreement and receive a $50 AT&T Promotion Card.) You can text message your email inbox.

First on your phone create a multimedia message with your picture and then press ok or done.

Where you normally would put a phone number you instead put your email address. Then hit the send button.

Your text message will be in your email box like an email. Then you download the image to your computer. (Or right click the image and hit Save as). Hope this helps.

I’m sorry, but I didn’t find this helpful at all. :(
Do you have to completely erase the contact and add it again to find this option? Because when you go into edit, you do not have that option to change the ringtone. :(

You have to re enter the phone number to the phone alone. Not transfer them over from the sim card. If you just transfer them over from the sim card, you will never see the option for the ringtone or photo to add

I just have to say that every time I pick up my phone, i am blinded by the sunlight reflection in the “mirror like” screen area. I absolutely hate it!
Beautiful phone, but definitely a poor design.

When you get on facebook on the computer, go to your settings and go to mobile. When your there it should give you a personal e-mail to send your pictures to. Save that e-mail and you can start sending pictures. Hope this helped.

If you keep this phone in your back pocket without a case will it get smashed? Cause that is where I usually keep my mom’s phone. If it does get smooshed would it break the screen or anything?

For the life of me I cannot figure out how to change the alert tones for when text messages arrive. The only option it gives me is “set as ringtone” in which case it makes my call ringtone an annoying beeping noise instead of my song. I’ve been googling how to to change this for a few days and have come up with nothing. There isn’t even a part in the manual on how to do this. Someone help!

Wow thank you, I came on this site looking for that exact info!! I, too, have been going crazy for days looking how to change the text alert. I really wanted to download my own text alert. Has anyone figured out how to do that? And by the way – why wouldnt they just put the text alert options with the ring tone options??!!

We have had nothing but problems with Pantech P7000. We have dropped calls, text messages and voice messages do not come thru. This happens on a daily basis. We are not able to use the front of the phone to access numbers to get to customer service, etc. This phone should be taken off the market. Also, we spoke with AT&T to get a replacement phone. DO NOT take off the back cover and remove the battery. There is a little “U shaped sticker in the upper left corner, if it turns any shade of pink, the phone is defected, by liquid. We believe AT&T did something from their company and changed the color, the day before it was completely white, and we did nothing different. I would never recommend the Pantech phone to anyone.

I highly doubt AT&T got the little square wet on your phone. If you live in an area with moisture or humidity it’s highly likely that, that was to cause. I’ve taken the back off before and nothing happen and I live at the Beach! I haven’t have any problems at all and it’s quite possible that you got a “lemon” phone. My last phone was like that (different type) and they replaced it. Then I got this phone as an upgrade and I absolutely LOVE it. Dropped calls are random anywhere and I live in an area that we have NO coverage for 6 miles.. I maybe get a dropped call once a month.

If you’re looking for a low maintenance phone, get this one! It’s fun and easy!

I have had this phone (Pantech Impact P7000) for 8 months now and have nothing but GOOD to say about it. It’s easy to use and I actually just found out a solution to the only mystery I had (changing the text tone). Now I know how to do it and love this phone 100%!

Ive had this phone for about 5 months now and at first I liked it and could find almost no downsides to it, but now things seem to be going wrong, sometimes text messages don’t come through, or send. It has a very limited amount of space for files, and some settings on the phone are VERY Difficult to change. But other than the few minor setbacks, it is a good phone and once you figure out and work through the little querks its a smooth ride and it works rather nicely.

Another problem I’ve found with this phone is that it turns off by itself all the time, sometimes it turns itself back on right after like an automatic restart, which isn’t so bad, but other times it will just stay off until you notice it. Either way though, if you are in the middle of a call, or a text, or anything, it will not save your infrmation, and you have to start all over.

you also have to note this is an java phone just like a computer java does sometime have an error while loading so if the phone mysteriously reboots its perfectly normal java had an error so the phone needs to restart. now however restarting more than 5-6 times a week NOT NORMAL i had my imact for 6 mo. no it inly restarted bout 12 times. i dont find it a problem for the phone its normal.
