CNET.UK reviews the Panasonic HDC-SD1 and writes;

“Overall, we liked the SD1’s video quality. In good light, video usually looks nice and sharp. The colours are bright and pleasing, the exposure generally hits the mark and there’s little noise in low-light shots. The 1,920×1,080-pixel still photos look good printed up to 200×115mm (8×4.5-inches). We wouldn’t bump any HD-resolution shots beyond letter size.”

CamcorderInfo reviews the Panasonic HDC-SD1 and writes;

“The SD1 is a consumer’s dream. Scrolling through the menu using the rear-mounted joystick takes only a few seconds to master, and playing back videos and pictures is cake, thanks to the condensed, tabbed playback menu screen… the low light performance has tended to suffer. This held true for the Panasonic HDC-SD1. It did not have a great deal of sensitivity. At 60 lux, the aperture was already opened up as wide as it could (f/1.8) and the gain, which ranges up to 18dB, was already up to 15dB. The shutter speed cannot be lowered past 1/60 without enabling the MagicPix AE mode.”

DigitalTrends reviews the Panasonic HDC-SD1 and writes;

“This camcorder is amazing. I’m not given to hyperbole but the HDC-SD1 is at the top of the pack for consumer camcorders circa early 2007. Given its size, design—and most important—the quality of its high-def video, anyone looking to be on home video’s razor edge, should check this baby out. Yes, it’s expensive but Porsches tend to cost more than Chryslers. And once you start recording in high-def, standard definition memories will be a thing of the past.”

“If you travel in high society and want to make a statement, then this is the camcorder for you. It looks like a camcorder that millionaires would choose – small, sleek and stylish — and the video is not bad if you don’t look at it closely. I suspect it is targeted for society moms who can appreciate a designer camcorder. However, video enthusiasts would be better off sticking with HDV for a recording format. The video quality is better and the prices are lower.”

TrustedReviews has a preview of the Panasonic HDC-SD1 ;

“Unfortunately, because of the size of the DVD media, the DX1 is nowhere near as comfortable to hold as the SD1. Instead of your fingers wrapping around the barrel as they do on the SD1, the tips of your fingers end up clawing the top of the disc enclosure. The result being a far less steady grip and a far less comfortable one.”

DigitalRev has a preview of the Panasonic HDC-SD1 ;

“The HDC-SD1 is Panasonic?s third camcorder to use the high-capacity, solid-state SDHC memory cards as their primary recording medium. This tough, compact model debuts as the world?s smallest and lightest 3-CCD High Definition video camcorder (as of Dec. 6, 2006). Since there are no moving parts in the recording section, the HDC-SD1 is also remarkably resistant to impact, so users can be certain of reliable, virtually error-free recording.”

FEATURES & SPECIFICATIONS

Superior color, detail, and gradation Most professional broadcasting cameras use the 3CCD system. In a 1CCD system, all of the incoming light information is processed by the same CCD. The more advanced 3CCD system uses three distinct CCDs for processing, so there is absolutely no light loss. You can see the results in beautifully rendered images with vivid color, fine detail, and rich gradation:
