DigitalTrends reviewed the Palm Treo 750v where they wrote;
“Battery standby time with the usual power saving modes on (short backlight time, quick unused phone off time) is measured in weeks rather than days or hours, but actual talk time fell a bit short of the rated four hours….There’s no denying the wealth of technology kneaded into this phone. But its capabilities run in direct disproportion to its functionality, and its current price is a mystery when similarly-spec’d phones such as the already HSDPA-equipped, Cingular video capable Samsung Blackjack are nearly half the 750’s price. “
PDAGold reviewed the Palm Treo 750v where they wrote;
“I can’t deny that the Palm Treo 750v impressed me. This was the first device after a long time that I am sorry to part with. On the other hand, I should stress that it is a device aimed at a specific target group, failing to satisfy a wider audience – some will prefer an all-in-one concept, some will require an integrated WiFi or GPS module, others will hesitate about the square display and poor support for multimedia. However, if you are looking primarily for a work tool, if your job requires extensive communication over e-mail or SMS on the go, if you are looking for a sophisticated, reliable yet compact cell phone, and if overall stability of the system is of major importance for you, you may find the Palm Treo 750v a good solution, even though rather pricey.”
PDAstreet reviewed the Palm Treo 750v where they wrote;
“The 750 is a business phone, and the software enhancements should please corporate customers. For e-mail, you can choose from Microsoft’s Messaging and Feature pack for push e-mail, calendar, tasks, and contacts; Good Mobile Messaging; and Cingular Xpress Mail. You can view and edit Word and Excel documents with pocket version of both apps, view PowerPoints with the pocket PowerPoint, and view PDFs with the included Picsel Viewer. You’ll also get a pocket version of the Windows Media Player and Pocket MSN.”
Brighthand reviewed the Palm Treo 750v where they wrote;
“Finally, the Calendar application comes across as the most polished aspect of the PIM offerings on this smartphone. There are several view options (Agenda, Day, Week, Month, and Year) and it is quite easy to jump from one to the other and to add and edit appointments…Other applications that were easy to use and mostly helpful were the Wireless Manager – used to set up cellular and Bluetooth connections, and was accessible right from the Today screen. Voice Command was a pleasant surprise and even worked well when using my BT headset.”
PC World Australia reviewed the Palm Treo 750v where they rated it 72/100 and wrote;
“The 750 comes with the Microsoft Office Mobile Suite for viewing and editing office documents and spreadsheets. Navigating through long files can be tricky on the 1.8-inch screen, but using the included stylus makes it easier. You also get a mobile version of Windows Media Player (for playing back audio and video files) and a miniSD Card slot (for storing them), as well as a 1.3-megapixel camera with a 2X digital zoom that took surprisingly good snapshots.”
CNET Australia reviewed the Palm Treo 750v where they rated it 9/10 and wrote;
“The good: Enhanced Windows Mobile 5, Uses Next G for HSDPA 1.8Mbps wireless broadband access, Iconic voicemail interface, Chat-style SMS messaging. The bad: Awkward keyboard, Lacklustre performance, especially streaming content. The bottomline: Here’s a dollop of irony: the best Windows Mobile smartphone has been created by Palm! A bevy of OS enhancements and access to Telstra’s Next G mobile broadband network easily make it the best Windows Mobile device we’ve ever used.”
Mobileburn reviewed the Palm Treo 750v where they wrote;
“The Treo 750v follows the sturdiness of previous Palm devices and the build quality is excellent. The color scheme used here is appropriate to the target market, and overall the design looks quite failsafe. Keeping in mind that Palm added 3G and improved the camera from previous devices, I am not complaining about the bulk…Pros: Intuitive control, availability of third party software, very comprehensive speed dial solution, mechanical switch for silent mode, office files support
Cons: Very over-priced, Bluetooth issues, difficult keypad, lack of WiFi.”
SiliconRepublic reviewed the Palm Treo 750v where they wrote;
“The Windows 5 Mobile environment is actually quite sturdy and the search for contacts window on the front screen is quite fresh and innovative. The device lends itself ideally for messaging applications and it is very easy to get a name, email address or number from your contacts database.”
ITweek reviewed the Palm Treo 750v where they rated the pda 5/5 and wrote;
“The Treo 750v is small enough to be used as a phone, and just large enough for a practical qwerty keyboard to ease data input. Palm’s careful attention to detail makes this one of the better Windows Mobile devices we have seen…Pros: Good user interface; well-laid out qwerty keypad; rubberised case. Cons: Relatively small keys; Vodafone 3G limited to metropolitan areas.”
GeekZone reviewed the Palm Treo 750v where they wrote;
“Attachments were handled with easy, and I was really impressed with the Picsel PDF Reader. The Treo 750v also had no problems handling the different office files I receive (not very frequently), including PowerPoint files and Word document files…Palm Treo 750v is indeed HSDPA-ready, and a ROM update will be available sometime around Q1 2007 enabling an even faster connection from this device…Pros:One hand operation, Small, light, Bluetooth stereo support, Office on the go. Cons: The non-standard adapter, No Wi-Fi.”
Msmobiles reviewed the Palm Treo 750v where they wrote;
“First of all, you see the Treo 750v today screen with the wireless plugin, the dial-a-contact plugin, the short dial numbers. Other cool features: auto key lock and the Palm car kit tools. Dial a contact directly from the today screen: Simply type in the contacts name, everything popps up and can be dialled directly from here! See the incoming call? Now in case you’ve missed the call there’s a popup staying on top telling you who called and allowing you to directly call the number without going to the standard caller list in Windows Mobile”
Unwired reviewed the Palm Treo 750v where they wrote;
“The thumb keyboard is a pleasure to use, it’s well balanced between size and usability and the overall integration makes the device easy to use, even without a stylus. While a scroll wheel would be a great addition, it also works perfectly without… The (worldwide) UMTS support is great, it would allow me to use the device around the globe for voice and data. While I don’t need a front facing camera for video telephony, the square 240×240 display is a real pain; it’s simply too small for such a data device . A device, supporting mobile data speed of up to 384 Kbps, should get a better display but this isn’t Palm’s fault at all. The next screen size – 320×320 – isn’t supported by Windows Mobile (something Microsoft has to fix asap) yet.”
Gadgeteer reviewed the Palm Treo 750v where they wrote;
“I’ve actually found that the 750v gets better reception than my 650. I’ve been able to use the 750v in places where my 650 would have problems with dropped calls and bad audio… The log can be filtered by different criteria. You can also access the call timer screen, which basically tells you how many calls you’ve placed and how much time you’ve talked since the log was last reset. “
IT Reviews reviewed the Palm Treo 750v where they wrote;
“The ability to put photo contacts on the main screen (the Today Screen) and then speed dial to them could be really useful for those few people you call a lot. For the main bulk of contacts, you just start to type their names until they appear in a dial window, then choose which of their numbers to call. With nearly 2,000 contacts in our review handset it took about three seconds to find someone this way.”
Treocentral reviewed the Palm Treo 750v where they wrote;
“This is a great device and a huge step up from Palm OS devices. A few less clicks here and there are insignificant compared to the much more powerful suite of software, fast multitasking, and better user experience. ActiveSync and the ability to manipulate files from your computer are just two examples of how Windows Mobile is better suited to my needs…Pros: today screen is awesome, Plenty of memory for applications, Quad Band 3G, Excellent software bundle, Great ergonomics including no antenna and a miniSD slot, Phone inexpensive with plan (Vodafone). Cons: Data expensive on Vodafone network, Calendar Application needs work, Button Clutter, WiFi not built-in”
Vnunet reviewed the Palm Treo 750v where they rated the phone 4/5 and wrote;
“After briefly entering our email settings, VBE pushed emails into the Treo 750v every 10 minutes or so. Throughout testing, this feature worked seamlessly and can be set to download emails between certain hours only, meaning you won’t be bothered by unwanted email alerts at the weekend or in the evenings if you so wish.”
CNET asia reviewed the Palm Treo 750v where they rated the phone 8/10 and wrote;
“The good: Good keyboard; 3G; plenty of memory that is easily expandable; clever extensions to Windows Mobile software; SMS continuous chat view. The bad: No Wi-Fi; 2.5mm headset jack; small, square screen; no front-facing camera for video calling. The bottom line: The Treo 750v is the first Windows Mobile device from Palm we have seen in Asia, and the company simply had to do well with it. On the usability front it has succeeded, though there are some things that annoy us — like the small screen.”
Pocket-Lint reviewed the Palm Treo 750v where they rated the phone 8/10 and wrote;
“The Palm Treo 750v is a good Windows Mobile device with plenty of features, however we found the keyboard small and frustrating to use mainly due to the rounded buttons – for the record we’ve never managed to get on well with the Treo keyboard and unfortunately this 750v hasn’t changed our minds. So while we think the Treo is a good unit, personally it’s not for us. Our recommendation therefore is to visit a Vodafone store and have a go yourself. If you like the keyboard, or are a previous Treo user then you’ll be right at home and the rest of the package is packed with options.”
TruestedReviews reviewed the Palm Treo 750v where they rated the phone 9/10 and wrote;
“The absence of Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 1.2 and lack of front facing camera and the need for a separate charger all annoy. These aside, Palm has done something quite special with the Treo 750v. The company has enhanced a widely used operating system with clever tweaks that reflect how users (or at least how this user) wants to work, making it easier to perform a lot of standard tasks. In doing so, Palm has added value to Windows Mobile in ways others have not managed and produced hardware that is neat, tidy and ergonomic.”
