Nokia E90 Reviews
Mobileburn reviews the Nokia E90 Communicator and writes;
“the E90’s 3.2 megapixel camera takes some very nice photos as long as there is reasonable lighting. It has a good auto-focus system and a flash that is passable in dark situations. In general the automatic white balance function works well, and color noise is kept pretty low in all but very dark situations…Pros: Large display and keyboard, GPS, AF camera, excellent messaging support. Cons: Very bulky, poor keyboard feel, UI/usability issues, bad connection management.”

PC world reviews the Nokia E90 Communicator and writes;
“The E90 flips open horizontally to reveal a full QWERTY keyboard and a big (4-inch), beautiful display, looking almost like a laptop. While the full keyboard and its complement of navigation controls are useful for accessing all of the phone’s features, the design is poor. First, flipping the phone open is difficult with two hands, and nearly impossible with only one. Second, the keys are flat (not convex, as on other phones), hard to press, and too close together.”

CNET reviews the Nokia E90 Communicator and writes;
“The good: The Nokia E90 Communicator is equipped with Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and GPS, and has a solid set of productivity and communication features for the business user. The Symbian smartphone also has a full QWERTY keyboard and 3.2-megapixel camera. The bad: The Nokia E90 doesn’t support U.S. 3G networks, and speakerphone volume is a bit weak. The handset is also heavy and bulky. ”

Nzherald reviews the Nokia E90 Communicator and writes;
“The other major upgrades that come with the E90 include a digital camera and the Series60 software platform which is much slicker than the previous Symbian iterations employed on the Communicator. I’m mainly familiar with the Windows Mobile and increasingly rare Palm operating system so switching over to Symbian is somewhat jarring. But once you’ve found your way around the menu system you’ll discover that everything you need is there – QuickOffice for viewing and editing documents, calendar, contacts and POP and IMAP email functionality. ”

WashingtonPost reviews the Nokia E90 Communicator and writes;
“Luckily, the phone’s software is better than its hardware. It runs the Symbian OS, and includes the QuickOffice suite for working with office documents and Adobe’s Acrobat Reader for viewing PDFs. Its excellent messaging options include BlackBerry Connect (even though it isn’t a BlackBerry) and Nokia Intellisync Wireless E-mail. It supportsPOP3, IMAP, and SMTP e-mail accounts. ”

Wired reviews the Nokia E90 Communicator and writes;
“Great for creating and editing text docs. Can be easily set up as a wireless modem. Integrated GPS means you’ll probably never ask for directions again. Functions perfectly as a cell — the voice quality is on par with the iPhone. Reads PDFs. Robust keyboard means you can work on that novella while waiting for the bus. No more procrastinating! ”

BiosMag reviews the Nokia E90 Communicator and writes;
“VERDICT: Top-spec smartphone for heavy business messaging & mobility. PROS: Robust design; extremely well connected; QWERTY keyboard; integrated GPS; 3-Megapixel camera (plus second camera). CONS: Bulky; displays aren’t touchscreen; doesn’t support HTML e-mail; Exchange client doesn’t support folders ”

CNET Australia reviews the Nokia E90 Communicator and writes;
“The E90 comes with an impressive 128MB of phone memory, which mean no menu lag and no problem running multiple applications. We found opening PDFs, watching movie clips and running office applications to be a snappy process. Battery life is excellent on this phone. Nokia claims up to 5.8 hours talk time and up to 14 days standby time.”

ITReviews reviews the Nokia E90 Communicator and writes;
“It is the format that sells the Nokia E90 Communicator and if you really do need a seriously wide viewing area and a keyboard for a fair amount of serious typing, then the E90 is definitely worth considering. You might need to double-stitch your pocket to take the weight, though.”

WirelessInfo reviews the Nokia E90 Communicator and writes;
“The browser is one of the best we’ve seen on a cell phone, but is hindered by its slow U.S. EDGE connections; downloading full Web pages is a frustrating experience. Probably the most important piece of inconsistency is its price; the cost of the E90 simply isn’t justified by what it is.”

CNET.UK reviews the Nokia E90 Communicator and writes;
“The Nokia E90 will beat most other smart phones in the specs department hands-down but it will also win the prize for being one of the largest handsets out there. It’s primarily aimed at business users with briefcases — if you want it to fit in the pocket of your skinny jeans, forget it”

MobileTechReview reviews the Nokia E90 Communicator and writes;
“The Nokia E90’s 3.2 megapixel camera is impressive, both for still photos and video. Video quality rivals the excellent N95 and like the N95 it can shoot at VGA resolution at 30fps. Still image quality isn’t quite as good as the 3MP autofocus Nokia N73 (one of the best), nor can it beat the 5MP N95 or Sony Ericsson’s top CyberShot phones such as the 800i, but it’s better than most camera phones on the market. The autofocus lens is sometimes a little balky to focus but generally it’s not too slow by autofocus camera phone standards, and it manages to create good depth in images.”

Stuff.TV reviews the Nokia E90 Communicator and writes;
“But more crucially than any of these gripes, the E90 isn’t cool. No matter how strongly you underline the power, fun and productivity, regardless of how underpowered it makes the iPhone look, people laugh at the E90’s bulk, and its oversized, folded appearance. ”

TechShout reviews the Nokia E90 Communicator and writes;
“We are giving the big black beast 9.5 out of 10 as we feel that Nokia E90 Communicator is one of the best phones available in the market and it is a steal if you are paying just Rs. 38,000 for a phone that has two screens and a QWERTY keyboard. We would recommend the E90 not only to higher level executives but also anyone who is an office goer or a B-School student as it would be a nice return on investment.”

CNETAsia reviews the Nokia E90 Communicator and writes;
“The good: Solid build quality; numeric keypad in addition to a QWERTY keyboard; Wi-Fi, HSDPA, GPS and Bluetooth stereo; large 800 x 352-pixel screen; supports various messaging clients including BlackBerry Connect; fast processor. The bad: Typing on the wide keyboard can be tiring after a long while; no fax capability; camera’s shutter button doesn’t perform up to par. The bottom line: Strong features and a relatively compact form factor make the E90 Communicator one of the best smart phones in the market today.”

MobileReview reviews the Nokia E90 Communicator and writes;
“Bottom line. For its potential target audience, Nokia E90 is a very balanced and reasonably priced solution. It has no counterparts that have made it to the market, therefrom follows its low price flexibility and most improbable price shifts (if only the enterprise audience really doesn’t like it).”
My-Symbian has reviewed the pre-sales unit with early firmware version of the Nokia E90 Communicator and writes;
” They are stable, precise, sensitive (but not too sensitive like the joystick in the 9300) and very convenient to use, with the central button clearly separated from the 4-way frame surrounding it. Both rockers provide very good tactile feedback and very clearly perceptible clicks. It’s very important, especially that the E90 keyboard doesn’t include arrow keys, which means that the rocker is the only controller.”
Pocket-Lint has a preview of the Nokia E90 Communicator and writes;
“Email is incredibly easy to use, backing up Andrew Hawking’s, Head of the e-Series in the UK, statement that Nokia wants “To make email as easy to use as voice”…While it’s still a brick, our first impressions suggest that this is the best brick from Nokia yet. The Communicator series has always been an acquired taste and the e90 is no exception, however with the feature set this looks to be offering – including a GPS mapping solution so you need never be lost again (well not outside anyway) – it’s certainly one to start looking at.”
