Nokia E72 Reviews

Mobileburn reviews the Nokia E72 and writes;

“Voice calls on the phone were very good during my tests in New York City. As a regular BlackBerry Bold 9700 user, I found the call quality to be on a par with that phone, if not better. Background noise was minimal as well, and I didn’t experience static, echoes, or dropped calls while using the E72. The speakerphone was sufficiently loud”

CNET reviews the Nokia E72 and writes;

The good: The Nokia E72 brings upgrades such as a faster processor, more memory, and a better camera. The phone’s design is both sleek and sturdy. It offers excellent messaging capabilities, 3G support, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GPS. The bad: The optical trackpad doesn’t work very well…”

Performance The E52 performs incredibly well, with fast internet browsing, accurate GPS, push-email and a superb keyboard”

Techtree reviews the Nokia E72 and writes;

“The browser is perfectly comfortable with heavy websites and the abundance of RAM means it won’t run out of memory while doing so as well. Scrolling is fast and smooth but would have been a bit more fun had the optical trackpad implementation been perfect.”

Pocket-Lint reviews the Nokia E72 and writes;

“The Nokia E72 is a capable smartphone with a focus on communication. The hardware has the quality feel to it that we expect from Nokia, providing a range of services that whilst all proficient, don’t really excite. We did like the new free navigation that Ovi Maps provides, but the rest of the platform feels as though it needs to take a step forward.”

PhoneArena reviews the Nokia E72 and writes;

“We didn’t encounter any lagging during our tests of the Nokia E72. That´s something you could say about us after the fourth shot of whiskey down the hatch the other day, but that´s life. The handset is snappy and quite suitable for calls. In-call quality is excellent on both ends, it´s just voices get slightly metallic with the volume pumped all the way up.”

GSM Arena reviews the Nokia E72 and writes;

“The preinstalled version of the Ovi Maps is 3.0 and as usual it’s pretty nice to work with. It has really detailed map coverage of a huge number of countries and a lot of extras such as traffic information, city guides and so on..The app also has very decent looks and easily customizable route planning algorithms. Our favorite feature is the 3D view mode…”

Slashgear reviews the Nokia E72 and writes;

“Battery life is rated as up to 12.5hrs GSM talktime (5hr 54m of WCDMA; 13hr 42m of VoIP) or up to 492hrs GSM standby (576hrs WCDMA; 110hrs VoIP) from the standard 1,500mAh battery. While we didn’t quite see those sort of times, we were impressed by the E72’s longevity.”

Allaboutnokia reviews the Nokia E72 and writes;

“It doesn’t take 12-meg pics but takes damn good 5-meg ones. It doesn’t have 64GB of memory, but can be upgraded to a decent 16. It doesn’t have a touchscreen but has an AMAZING full keyboard. It doesn’t have the 1GHz processor or the 256MB of RAM, but still works like a dream. It doesn’t mutate into some other kind of gadget or slides up and down, but has the greatest build quality. Like. Ever. It doesn’t have the world’s best push email service, but hey MfE and Nokia Messaging do a pretty decent job for me.”

Nokiasymbianthemes reviews the Nokia E72 and writes;

“I totally recommend the E72 smartphone to anyone seeking to get the right mixture of features and someone who wants it all: Efficiency, Multimedia, and Design. Whether you are using network providers like AT&T Wireless, Orange Mobile UK, Telenor, Verizon Wireless, Cingular, Vodafone, Hutch, Telia Sonera, T-Mobile etc or anything else, it is the E72 that should be the phone of your choice.”

A review by a hardcore E71 user. Is it worth the upgrade?, by N.Gaydarov
Rating: ★★★☆☆

“…CALL QUALITY: Excellent call quality except at the maximum volume where the call speaker also becomes distorted.KEYBOARD AND TOUCHPAD: The keyboard feels slightly better than the one on the E71. The buttons seem to give out somewhat of a better feedback. However the E72 is slightly wider than the E71 which makes it a little harder to type on with one hand…”

Nokia E72 Press Release

Nokia E72 builds on successful formula with slim dimensions and comprehensive messaging solutions

Espoo, Finland – June 15, 2009 – Swift, slim and resourceful are three words that accurately describe the new Nokia E72, which was unveiled at the Nokia Connection event in Singapore today. Nokia’s latest full QWERTY smartphone brings a rich mobile email and instant messaging experience right out of the box, making it the ideal device for people that want to be productive in both their personal and professional lives.

Building on the formula from the hugely successful Nokia E71, Nokia’s best selling QWERTY device to date, this latest arrival in Nokia’s Eseries family maintains essential elements of its predecessor, whilst still improving its capabilities in a number of areas. “Despite the outstanding market performance of the Nokia E71, we still continually look for ways to enhance the device,” said Ilari Nurmi, Vice President at Nokia. “So we included the desktop like email experience from the Nokia E75 and gave it a new optical navigation key for more intuitive scrolling through menus, emails and fast panning of images. We also upgraded the camera to 5 megapixels and added a standard 3.5 mm audio jack.”

On top of these developments, for the first time, owners will be able to set up instant messaging (IM) accounts provided by Nokia Messaging direct from the homescreen. In just a few steps, device owners will be able to connect to their favorite IM accounts such as Yahoo! Messenger, Google Talk and Ovi, amongst many others.

These new IM features are complimented by Nokia’s range of email solutions with a lifetime license for Nokia’s mobile email and IM service, Nokia Messaging, as well as onboard clients for Mail for Exchange and IBM Lotus Notes Traveler. Accessing popular accounts such as Yahoo! Mail, Gmail, Windows Live Hotmail, Ovi Mail and thousands of other email service providers is simple through improved on-device email setup, with the same easy to use UI integrating all of the owner’s corporate email accounts as well.

Performance improvements are evident throughout the user experience including faster Internet up- and downlink speeds. Other notable features which should make the Nokia E72 as popular as recent Nokia Eseries introductions include A-GPS and compass with integrated Maps, including lifetime walk and 10 days of turn-by-turn navigation if activated within the first three months. Conversations are also clearer with active noise cancellation, and a torch can be activated with a single press of the spacebar key. The office capabilities have been updated with a new version of Quickoffice, which delivers Microsoft Office 2007 compatibility as well as free version upgrades when new features become available.

The Nokia E72 is expected to begin shipping late in the third quarter of 2009 at an estimated retail price of EUR 350 before taxes and subsidies.
