Nokia 5800 Reviews
devhardware reviews the Nokia 5800 Navigation Edition and writes;
“Once connected to a network, browsing the Internet is simple using the phone’s full HTML browser. The browser allows you to view websites in their full form, unlike some phones that employ WAP browsers. You can have multiple pages open at once, save bookmarks, perform searches, and more. ”

CNET reviews the Nokia 5800 Navigation and writes;
“The good: The Nokia 5800 Navigation Edition offers voice-guided navigation with text-to-speech functionality, 3D landmarks, and premium content, all for free. Ovi Maps provides accurate directions and doesn’t require a data connection. The handset also offers Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 3G, and a 3.2-megapixel camera. The bad: Route recalculations are slow and positioning was frequently off by at least half a block. User interface is a bit confusing at first.”

Vnunet reviews the Nokia 5800 and writes;
“A solid, easy-to-use phone that will appeal to Nokia users, but the touch interface isn’t as polished as Apple’s. Good points: Good battery life; straightforward to use. Bad points: Not as slick as Apple’s offering; camera doesn’t excel”

Trusted Reviews reviews the Nokia 5800 and writes;
“I don’t think the market leaders Apple, Samsung and LG, need to worry just yet. S60-plus-touch has a little way to go before it can rival the bottom up interface designs which handsets from those companies offer.”

CNET.asia reviews the Nokia 5800 and writes;
“The bottom line: Nokia’s first outing with the S60 5th Edition platform and unlimited music download service proves to be very compelling. It just needs to address the inconsistencies in the user interface.”

PhoneScoop reviews the Nokia 5800 and writes;
“The 5800 is a decent first try, although mostly it just whet our appetite for the second round of S60 Touch devices. With improved text entry software and sleeker, slimmer hardware (think E71) Nokia could mount a real challenge to the iPhone.”

Vnunet reviews the Nokia 5800 and writes;
“Overall the device is a perfectly competent phone and certainly a lot better than many other touch-screen models out there, especially for the price.”

KnowYourMobile reviews the Nokia 5800 and writes;
“The Nokia 5800 XpressMusic is a top first effort by the Finnish manufacturer, if only it featured a multitouch interface as seen on the iPhone ”

MobileBlah reviews the Nokia 5800 and writes;
“Nokia 5800 is a worthy deal. Sure you get an interface that’s immature, inconsistent and quite clumsy but the package you get for that kind of cash is a bargain and even Nokia’s sworn enemies admit that.”

TechTree reviews the Nokia 5800 and writes;
“the 5800 XpressMusic is not a bad buy at all. The 8GB card, music quality, bundle of accessories and the seamless touch interface, which isn’t any hard getting used to, will favor your decision.”

MobileChoice reviews the Nokia 5800 and writes;
“With the Mobile World Congress just around the corner, it may be too early to bet on the 5800 as the phone of 2009, but it certainly has the wow factor. ”

PhoneArena reviews the Nokia 5800 and writes;
“We also think that it may win the hearts of many people. It offers a good functionality and performs considerably well for its price, which may play a major part in your final decision.”

CNET.uk reviews the Nokia 5800 and writes;
“. The 5800’s screen isn’t the worst we’ve ever used but it lacks the responsiveness of the iPhone’s and, at times, requires a stylus. That said, the music experience isn’t bad, so hopefully Nokia’s next touchscreen phone will do it justice”
Rating:
PocketLint reviews the Nokia 5800 and writes;
“The phone might have the consumer in mind, but the stylus interface means it’s unlikely to appeal to anyone other than a Windows Mobile user looking to get a bit of street cred without losing the safety blanket of the pen”

Nokia 5800 Press Release
Nokia announced that the highly anticipated Nokia 5800 XpressMusic is now, or soon will be, available in select markets globally, including Russia, Spain, India, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Finland, among others.
The latest in Nokia’s XpressMusic range, the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic delivers an affordable music device with a touch screen interface to the mass market.
Aiming to put music into the hands of millions, the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic offers all the music essentials including a graphic equalizer, 8GB memory for up to 6000 tracks, support for all main digital music formats, and a 3.5mm jack.
Built-in surround sound stereo speakers offer the industry’s most powerful sound.
“When it comes to music phones, people all over the world want a device that is a great music experience and still works really well as a mobile phone, without sacrificing features,” said Jo Harlow, Vice President, Nokia.
“The Nokia 5800 XpressMusic delivers on this and allows consumers to quickly and easily access and share the content that is most important to them with the people that are most important to them.”
Making the most of touch screen technology, the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic delivers easy and fast access to all music, video and photos through a one-touch ‘Mediabar’ drop down menu.
The Media Bar also offers a direct link to the Web and to online sharing. Because the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic supports Flash content, individuals can surf the entire web.
The innovative ‘Contacts Bar’ lets people highlight four favorite contacts on their home-screen and, through a single touch, track a digital history of recent text messages, emails, phone logs, photos and blog updates.
For the best screen resolution available on a mobile phone, the 3.2″ widescreen display brings photos, video clips and web content to life in vibrant color and true clarity.
With a 16 by 9 aspect ratio and 30 frames-per-second playback and recording, the device is ideal for VGA quality video recording and playback.
The Nokia 5800 XpressMusic also features a 3.2 megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss lens and, with a single touch, images or videos can be shared via a favorite online community, such as Share on Ovi, Flickr, or Facebook.
Ensuring a seamless music experience, Nokia 5800 XpressMusic also provides easy access to browse and purchase tracks from the Nokia Music Store, where applicable, while the newly updated Nokia Music PC software allows for easy drag-and-drop transfer of songs and management of any music collection.
The Nokia 5800 XpressMusic supports 60 languages worldwide and offers a variety of input methods including a virtual alphanumeric keypad, a virtual computer-style QWERTY keyboard, a pen stylus — and for true music enthusiasts, a plectrum — are all available.
