Mio C220 Reviews
LaptopMag reviews the Mio C220 and writes;
“If you’re willing to spend more for a a bigger screen and more extras, we recommend the Magellan Maestro 4040. But the Mio DigiWalker C220 is a solid budget pick for getting you where you need to go.”

CNET.UK reviews the Mio C220 and writes;
“We like: Low weight; smart mapping; sensitive navigation; speed cameras included. We don’t like: Cramped screen; illogical interface; stuffy voice guidance; expensive European maps. The bottom line: A street-smart navigator that takes both long-distance driving and tourist wandering in its stride. If you’re after an entry-level sat-nav, don’t let the prim voice guidance, cramped screen and weird interface put you off — this navigator is built to last”

Ubergizmo reviews the Mio C220 and writes;
“As with all GPS units, there are times when the device chooses a route that is not as smart/easy as you would like, but I don’t think that any GPS out there is really all that smart, including the pricey ones. Eventually, they (almost) always get you there… If you’re looking for a no-nonsense GPS unit that does navigation very well, you should take a look at the Mio C220 – it delivers an incredible value for that price level (expect to find it at street prices of $179 – $199).”
Navigadget reviews the Mio C220 and writes;
“One of the things I liked the about the software was its speed. There was almost no delay between screens or even during POI searches. The graphics, even in 3D, were rendered quite fast including when you zoom in and out… Bottom line: Mio C220 does a good job at all the features it promises. It is easy to use and has a great value for the price. We strongly recommend it.”
CNET reviews the Mio C220 and writes;
“The good: The Mio C220 offers a compact, no-fuss design and an accurate GPS. The system is easy to use and all maps come preloaded on an included SD card. The C220 is also very affordable. The bad: The C220’s screen is barely readable in sunlight, and we wish there was an easier way to adjust the volume. The bottom line: Though the Mio C220 offers ease of use, accurate directions, and an affordable price tag, its poor screen makes this in-car GPS device almost unusable. ”

Mio C220 Hacks
Kturley explains how to unlock the Mio C220;
” After the restart, the application interface will be launched except if a memory card with a “\2577\” directory and an “autorun.exe” file is present. In that case, after the restart THAT file will be launched. This is useful if we want to try some applications which have to be renamed into “autorun.exe”. If we don’t want this file to be executed, take off the memory card and restart.”

Simple to use, lots of neat features, yet the maps are so out of date in my area that it tries to route me down a road that was removed 8 years ago. My contact with Mio about an update was brief, basically being told I will have to buy an update, although the box advertised current mapping(at time of purchase). I will have to pay around 80 bucks for the update( got the GPS for 100….) but they can’t tell me when the update will be released. I’d like to see a free update, to at least get what I originally paid for. The mapping on my 330 was better(stolen) but the 330 was too “busy” for me.
Good product, lousy support.
Did they tell you where you can buy the updated maps? I don’t mind splitting the cost you and may be others, kenani@hotmail.com
