+ REVIEWS

CNET reviews the Magellan CrossoverGPS (rating: 6.3/10) and writes;

The good: The Magellan CrossoverGPS offers navigation for drivers, boaters, and walkers. The unit is also water resistant and comes with a sport guard for protection. The receiver did a great job of tracking our location, and driving directions were accurate. The bad: General performance was sluggish, and the unit was slow to recalculate routes. It’s also too big and heavy to carry on long walks or hikes, and you can’t enter specific addresses in Outdoor mode. The bottom line: The Magellan CrossoverGPS is a versatile GPS, offering navigation help to drivers, boaters, and walkers, but it’s tripped up by sluggish performance.”

PCMag reviews the Magellan CrossoverGPS (rating: 3.5/5) and writes;

“On our driving tests, the Magellan CrossoverGPS performed exactly like other Magellan units I’ve tested. The speaker had a good sound, and the voice prompts were given at appropriate intervals prior to a turn. I especially like the “ding ding” turn confirmation—a feature not found on too many GPSs. Magellan certainly breaks new ground with the CrossoverGPS. If you’re an outdoor enthusiast who also wants premium vehicle navigation, it could be for you. “

GPSMagazine reviews the Magellan CrossoverGPS and writes;

“If you’re doing serious geocaching, the CrossoverGPS isn’t going to replace your handheld anytime soon. But for basic waypoint marking and trackback capabilities outdoors, the CrossoverGPS delivers those features on top of an already good vehicle navigation GPS at a bargain of a price. The CrossoverGPS is an excellent choice for someone looking for a good in-car GPS that can make occasional excursions outdoors (on foot, skis, ATVs, etc.) or on the water.”

PCWorld reviews the Magellan CrossoverGPS (rating: 80/100) and writes;

“But if you’re willing to overlook these shortcomings, the CrossoverGPS will keep you heading in the right direction regardless of your method of transportation. When you add the optional maritime maps and load them via SD Card, the device will help keep your fleet on course, too. Regrettably, I was unable to test the maritime maps because my yacht is in drydock. With a little less heft and a little easier guidance for pedestrians, the CrossoverGPS could be a navigator for all methods of locomotion, and in all types of weather.”
