Mobileburn reviews the LG VX8700 and writes;

“The VX8700 is a solid all purpose handset that has a great feature set under its slick and shiny belt. Springboarding off of the LG Shine, this sleek folder for Verizon Wireless has won me over, and with that I give the LG VX8700 a “Highly Recommended” rating.”

LG VX8700 Review by PhoneScoop

CNET reviews the LG VX8700 and writes;

The good: The LG VX8700 has a stunning and attractive stainless-steel design. It also has impressive multimedia features, and the call quality was great. The bad: The LG VX8700 has a flat keypad and lacks external music player controls, and the microSD card slot is inconveniently located behind the battery. The VX8700 does not come with a USB cable or a microSD card, so there are additional costs to reap the full benefits of the music player. The bottom line: The LG VX8700 is a gorgeous phone with plenty of multimedia features that are sure to please if you can get past its design flaws. Also, the need to purchase additional accessories can be a pain.”
Rating: ★★★½☆

MobileTechReview reviews the LG VX8700 and writes;

“LG marries fashion and function with the VX8700. The phone is stunning, slim and easily pocketed and it has a good camera, great call quality, good Bluetooth performance including A2DP and good overall response times. In terms of both features and looks, it’s serious competition for the Motorola RAZR maxx. We like most everything about this phone lots: a better than average camera, nice video recording quality, strong gaming performance, a very good display (though not quite up to the superb LG VX9400’s) and a strong Bluetooth implementation. Our only two dings are the inconvenient microSD card location and the flat keypad/d-pad.”
Rating: ★★★★☆

InfoSync reviews the LG VX8700 and writes;

“The LG VX8700 is a very pretty phone that is generally likeable, but suffers from a few hardware and software missteps. The camera is lousy, and the stereo Bluetooth gave us problems during video playback. Though LG has gussied-up the interface with a cool, matching theme, it’s still Verizon Wireless through-and-through, which means its multimedia options are aimed at selling you services, rather than using what you already have. Still, call quality was admirable, and a good GPS sensor was a nice surprise. Overall, we loved the styling, and felt this was a better choice than the LG VX8600, but we still think this phone could be a flagship model with a few tweaks in almost every department.”
Rating: ★★★½☆

LaptopMag reviews the LG VX8700 and writes;

“Voice calls on our tests sounded nearly perfect in Manhattan and New Jersey, with no complaints from our recipients. The 3 hours and 20 minutes of rated talk time is 20 minutes shorter than what the VX8600 offers. We found ourselves needing to recharge every other day, which is a little more often than we’d like. Note that recording video and taking pictures takes up a lot of power, so avoid using the camera if you want to save some juice.”
Rating: ★★★★☆

PCMag reviews the LG VX8700 and writes;

“The LG VX8700 has all the ingredients of a successful consumer phone: good-enough performance, great looks, and a camera that you’d actually want to take pictures with. But at $229.99 ($179.99 with rebate), it’s one of Verizon’s most expensive phones right now. I prefer to think of it as paying $50 more to get a better camera than the VX8600’s, which is reasonable.”
Rating: ★★★½☆

PhoneArena has a preview of the LG VX8700;

“The call quality on the VX8700 was a disappointment. From the very beginning, we could hear a “hiss” sound in the earpiece during conversations. Raising or lowering the earpiece volume did not change the volume of this background sound. When talking to someone in a quiet environment, the “hiss” sound was very noticeable. Overall we consider the VX8700 a good upgrade from the VX8600. The metal body, 2MP Camera, and QVGA are all welcome improvements. However, the call quality, speakerphone, and MP3 playback was not as good as the enV, A990, or older VX8300.”
