“Most people will use colour from a laser printer for printing business graphics, however, and here the colours are strong and well-differentiated. They’re not always accurate to the on-screen image, though, and some tints on our test pages reproduced too dark, making overlaid black print hard to read. Black print on white is clean and sharp and easily good enough for external presentation as well as in-house documentation.”

“Text print quality was superb in our tests. Our panel of judges noted crisply formed characters, smooth diagonals, and consistently dark solids. Line art came out a little dark, but straight and sharp. Our grayscale image also appeared too dark, with grainy mid-tones. Color printing was a disappointment, though…Pros: Fast text printing, low price, Extra 530-sheet tray costs only $199. Cons: No manual paper tray, Legal paper requires $129 upgrade.”

It has no duplexer, so double-sided printing is a manual operation…We like: Fast black text and graphics prints; excellent text handling; good graphics prints; inexpensive.We don’t like: High consumables cost; limited functionality; no duplexer; nonexpandable memory.”

Lexmark International, Inc. (NYSE: LXK) – 17 July 2006- has introduced the Lexmark C500n colour laser printer for small and medium business (SMB) customers looking for a versatile, reliable printer that delivers high-quality documents quickly and affordably.
With fast speeds of up to 31 pages per minute (ppm) in monochrome and 8 ppm in colour and an estimated street price of R 3,699 (incl VAT), the Lexmark C500n can easily serve as the primary printing device for customers who require colour but also print large volumes of black and white documents. The Lexmark C500n also comes standard with networking so the printer can be shared simply by several users in a small workgroup to further reduce costs.
