Digital Trends reviews the Lenovo ThinkPad X300 and writes;

“Battery life is critical to an ultra-portable, and to test it we disable the screensaver and other battery-saving options and simply loop a DVD while surfing the Net until the battery runs out. Though this scenario isn’t a “worst case” scenario such as running 3DMark or loading the CPU to 100 percent, it’s a bit more strenuous than simply typing emails and such. In our tests we were able to squeeze 2 hours and 35 minutes from the included 3-cell battery, which is decent, but not spectacular. ”

Trusted Reviews reviews the Lenovo ThinkPad X300 and writes;

“Lenovo has done just as good a job with the pointing devices too. IBM invented the TrackPoint and in my opinion it’s a far better pointing device than the more common touchpad. The great thing about the TrackPoint is that you don’t have to move your hand away from the keyboard to use it, while you can also move your pointer right across the screen without having to reposition your finger, or have the sensitivity turned up sky high. ”

BiosMag reviews the Lenovo ThinkPad X300 and writes;

“The ThinkPad X300 is all about portability. Not only is it built to survive the toils of the daily commute, but its wireless connectivity options are among the best out there. Available as optional extras is the ability to have integrated WiMax - when the technology becomes available - as well as ultra-wideband/wireless USB, 3G/HSDPA, and WLAN (802.11a/b/g/n). There’s even the option to have built-in GPS functionality, though we’re not too sure how practical this is on a laptop. Corporates will also love the integrated fingerprint reader, I/O port disablement and 32-byte password protection, which provide a layered security approach to help protect data and unauthorised access. ”

Tech2 reviews the Lenovo ThinkPad X300 and writes;

“Another pleasing factor was the performance of the 64 GB SSD. Thanks to this, OS boot-up times were a good deal faster than in standard HDD solutions. Though storage is of course limited, this can be alleviated partly by the use of an external drive, as the laptop offers no less than three USB slots. The X300 is everything that the Macbook Air could have been. While the Air certainly looks better, the X300 equals or surpasses it with its solid construction, great battery life, and overall incredible sound. ”

PC World reviews the Lenovo ThinkPad X300 and writes;

“The X300 has a decent amount of power for an ultralightweight notebook–in fact, it performed surprisingly well against other ultralight models. With a 1.2-GHz Core 2 Duo L7100 processor and 2GB of RAM, it scored a 64, outpacing the MacBook Air by a healthy 7 points in our WorldBench 6 benchmark tests. On the other hand, the X300’s performance is exactly average compared with the broad field of ultraportables we’ve tested. It also posted an average score in our battery life tests, lasting 4 hours, 22 minutes on a charge ”

Notebook Review reviews the Lenovo ThinkPad X300 and writes;

“The SSD storage really goes a long way to improving certain aspects of performance, the all important boot-up time is a mere 27-seconds from the push of the power button to the Windows hourglass dissappearing. It only took 32 seconds to boot-up, have the wireless connection enabled, and a browser window open to its homepage. That is amazing speed, as a comparison a ThinkPad X61 we have in house takes more than double that amount of time to boot. ”

LaptopMag reviews the Lenovo ThinkPad X300 and writes;

“As for workaday performance, the X300 is impressive for its size. The 1.2-GHz Intel Core 2 Duo SL7100 CPU and 2GB of RAM helped to deliver a score of 126 on MobileMark 2007, which is nearly 40 points above average among ultraportables…Battery life was also good, with the 6-cell pack lasting 5 hours and 7 minutes for typical chores and 2 hours while playing a DVD, and you can add a second 3-cell battery in place of the optical drive if need be. ”

NotebookReview first thoughts reviews the Lenovo ThinkPad X300 and writes;

“The 13.3″ WXGA+ screen on the X300 is nice and bright, with its 300 nit LED backlit spec. The screen real estate you get with WXGA+ on the 13.3″ form factor is actually more than you’d expect, you can quite comfortably fit a couple of web browser or spreadsheet windows open next to each other and compare and contrast things. ”

CNET reviews the Lenovo ThinkPad X300 and writes;

The good: Extremely thin and light; sleekest ThinkPad yet; built-in DVD burner, plus WWAN, GPS, and wireless USB. The bad: Solid-state drive comes at a high premium; touch pad’s location makes it easy to accidentally graze while typing. ”

PC Mag reviews the Lenovo ThinkPad X300 and writes;

” The X300 is not crammed to the gills with features, but useful ones are plentiful. One of the most important is a built-in dual-layer DVD burner, which is considered pretty impressive in 3-pound-and-under ultraportables. ”
