“Highs: Excellent 1080p video; optical image stabilization; attractive design. Lows: Mic picks up wind noise; missing a flash or video light; no hot shoe…This 1080p model is a winner especially when shooting outdoors and it’s not too shabby in available light. Quality is very impressive, menus are easy to navigate and adjust, the ergonomics are just dandy. There’s my usual caveat—you have to hold it yourself and make that decision since everyone’s hands are different. That said, if it fits your hand, definitely put it on the short list. ”

“The positives of the JVC GZ-HD6 shouldn’t be overlooked. While it doesn’t stand up in raw performance compared to the competition, the picture still looks quite good on a big HDTV. The manual control package is excellent, and the manual focus system is still the best in its class. The addition of the mic jack, headphone jack, and accessory shoe (albeit a cold shoe) are welcome additions to the HD Everio line. The image stabilization works exceptionally well. ”
