Apple iPod Classic video review by StuffMag;
TrustedReviews reviews the iPod Classic 2007 and writes;
“Complaints about the restrictive file format support, volume level and games compatibility aside, if you’re in the market for a high-capacity music and video player the iPod Classic should be high on your shortlist. Its years at the top of the MP3 player market have resulted in a great-looking, mature product that’s not only wonderfully easy to pick up and use but is also packed with features and, most importantly, is a great bargain.”

Unbeatable reviews the iPod Classic 2007 and writes;
“Video playback is awesome and totally unchanged from the iPod Video. A really bright clear and smooth video screen and high quality images are displayed brilliantly… With superb sound and stunning picture quality, the iPod Classic will not disappoint. Finally, an MP3 player that will allow you cart your entire music collection around with you and let you see it all on screen. What pleasure! The 80GB model will set you back £159 and £229 for the 160GB version.”

CNET.UK reviews the iPod Classic 2007 with Software Update 1.0.1 and writes;
“The first is that the iPods’ interfaces became more responsive…Running under the original 1.0 software, my 160GB iPod classic played continuous audio for just over 59 hours on a single battery charge. With the 1.0.1 update, playtime was reduced to 52 hours and 39 minutes. Similarly my 80GB iPod classic went from playing audio for 41 hours and five minutes to 38 hours and 13 minutes.”

CNET.UK reviews the iPod Classic (sixth-generation) and writes;
“Apple has not only exceeded our expectations, it’s exceeded ones we didn’t even have. The iPod classic is a superb audio player with a huge wealth of well-integrated features and intuitive navigation. Our only real concern is that menus can be laggy. Apart from that, outstanding”

CNETAsia reviews the iPod Classic (sixth-generation) and writes;
“The good: The iPod classic is just like the Video iPod, only slimmer, tougher, and injected with a more visually rich graphic user interface. The bad: Video output requires a proprietary cable; audio quality has not improved; some older iPod video accessories may not be compatible; users are required to use the latest version of iTunes, which may not work on some older computer systems. The bottom line: The iPod classic is a refinement of the formula that put the iPod on the map. Few can match its combination of storage capacity, battery life, and advanced user interface.”

RegHardware reviews the iPod Classic (sixth-generation) and writes;
“The 160GB scores 40 hours and seven hours’ respectively….Buyers will benefit from many of the improvements - the search, the extra info, the new-style Settings menu - but others, like Cover Flow, will fall by the wayside. It’ll be great on the iPod Touch, but not here.”

Playlistmag reviews the iPod Classic (sixth-generation) and writes;
“Pros: Bright, clear screen; excellent battery life; improved user interface; includes three new games; sound as good as previous full-sized iPod; attractively priced with good price per gigabyte. Cons: Sluggish interface and unresponsive to controls; incompatible with many existing dock-connector accessories; can’t use previously purchased games; Cover Flow not terribly helpful.”

DigitalTrends reviews the iPod Classic (sixth-generation) and writes;
” While nothing about the iPod Classic wowed us besides the capacity, we were left feeling satisfied with the purchase. If you are a current 5G iPod owner and don’t need additional space, there is no compelling reason to upgrade.”

“…it is a good choice for those who don’t mind compromising on display and user interface technology to get an affordable digital media player with incredible storage capacity. However, we wouldn’t recommend it to everyone; our advice would be to hold out for a device that offers the screen, interface and storage capacity that satisfy your needs.”

ArsTechnica reviews the iPod Classic (sixth-generation) and writes;
It’s obvious that the engineers had to tone down or eliminate antialiasing to get this far, and while it’s more or less faithful to the original, the jaggies, sluggishness, and latency of scrubbing through your library just doesn’t cut it for this seasoned iPod user.”

WashingtonPost has a preview of the iPod Classic (sixth-generation) and writes;
“in my experience, full-frame TV shows look great on the Classic’s display, but I wouldn’t want to watch movies on a screen that small. Anything letterboxed immediately becomes eye-strainingly tiny, and I can’t stand pan-and-scan transfers.”

Wow!
I’m think about getting an ipod classic, and I was just looking for reviews and some ipod classic instructions, but you did all the work for me!
Thanks.
if you are looking to convert videos from any format to mp4 format and to get them into itunes and fro there onto your ipod then isquint is your best option. it has an add to itunes feature and is free. all you need to do is to drag and drop a file into its window and si back and wait.
I just got my classic about a week ago and well it’s great. It is alot thinner than the 5th gen 80G and feels even better. The sound is still great, the screen bigger, and the battery life lasts longer. But there is one thing that really bugged me, the interface is at sometimes very sluggish. The click wheel is unresponsive at times but i noticed that it is more sensitive on the outside of the wheel then on the center. The cover flow is really pointless, great for the iTouch but pointless for the classic. Some of my friends paid 400$ for their 80G 5th gen ipods when i paid 254 for my classic. If your looking at this site your probably thinking about buying one and i would recommend it i have no regrets.
Just got an 80gb classic!
Excellent decision of mine. Luv it soooo much.
Sound and video quality is great,
I can’t wait till more games come out!
I have to agree with Franciso Lepe - it is slow at times.
But it is deff a great upgrade from my old 1G iPod Mini.
BUY ONE!
I just got a 160 Gig pod and I am actually quite upset at how slow it is. I am running a fairly powerful machine, 1 Gig RAM, 1.73 Ghz Toshiba. I am making some playlist of the 35 Gigs of music I have on it and my itunes freezes every 20-30 seconds for about 5 seconds. It is really annoying and seems like itunes cannot handle the vast size of this new generation ipod. If someone knows what I could do to speed itunes up a bit, or prevent it from freezing up, I would appreciate!
Martin
it is because itunes sux and it cant handle that much music you have to find another program to use such as media monkey
I got an 80GB, and the only bad things are that it doesnt play games, which will be fixed in the future, and the transition from the main page of the ipod to the music page or any other pages from the main menu. I really enjoy it though.
P.S. It does not work with the audio jack compostite or AV cables that worked for the hookup to your tv with the 5th gen!!!
dont buy it i got it and its messed up a lot error 50 48 69 1418 required disc any solutions plz
My 30G ipod was stolen yesterday. I paid $350 for it over 2 years ago. Since my insurance covered it, I bought a new ipod classic. I can’t believe I got 80G for $250! I have to buy a new computed for my last ipod because I didn’t have enough memory, now I’ll have to either get a new laptop or an external hard drive. I love the bigger screen, options available, and artwork flow. I can see it better in the car. Plus, the battery is great! Also, it is compatible with all the accessories I already had (docking speakers, etc.)
I do, however, have one complaint. I did buy one game for $4.99 before I realized I had a 6th generation, not a 5th. Apparently a lot of people made the same mistake. Live and learn I guess! I am looking forward to getting some new games at the end of the month.
Oh, and a lot of the hacker software isn’t compatible with these ipods….yet.
Oh, and a lot of the hacker software isn’t compatible with these ipods….yet.
Actually, just like the 2ndGen Nano, the 6th Gen Classic, and all other iPods have encrypted firmware, and will most likely never be supported,
pity, =(
I have just purchased a 160gb ipod classic, so far so good, well it maay take time to work around the new interface, I am so far pleased, one thng I havn’t worked out is, all my earlier music albums on the older ipod did not have the cover flow, so how do I create coverflow for those earlier albums, if anyone can help, please contact, chr…
What I’ve done with my songs that doesn’t have any album artwork, I just looked up the album on google then right click on the album image on google and copy it. Then in Itunes, highlight the song title and go to more info then paste it on the fits tab on the right side.
I have tried to play videos on my ipod classic 160 gig but have been coming up short. I downloaded countless video converters but none of them work.
can someone please tell me what to do? I want to convert videos and watch them directly on my ipod.
Download Videora for iPod classic, you’ll find it on google, it works perfectly with my ipod classic 80GiG, hope that helps…
I’ve been using Handbrake to convert the movie. If the movie has copyright, use DVD Shrink (google it). Once its been decripted using DVD Shrink, find the [Movie title} Video_TS and load it onto handbrake then select the ipod low rez or high rez on the right panel and run it.
I recently purchased the 80gb version of the classic to integrate into my car audio system. Needless to say, it was a waste of money! My Alpine head unit, nor any of Alpines current accessories will support the video from the Classic, and unlike my other ipod, I cant even control the audio from it via the head unit. Does anyone know of an accessory that will make the Classic work with the IVA series of head units?
I got an 80 gig ipod classic around Christmas, and it begain to freeze up so i exchanged it for another. The current one that I have just did the same thing. It’s really, very aggravating, and I would appreciate it if someone could share some advice on how to prevent it from doing so.
i have an ipod classic and i just updated its firmware yesterday to the latest which is 1.1 and after that my ipod is acting up already. after i shut off my ipod i hear this noise. any fix for this? thanks.
If you want a good converter I recommend you check out this site: http://www.dvdvideosoft.com/. You can also convert Youtube videos to Mpeg-4 form. And it’s totally free! :D
not being able to external video is bs
i most bought my 160 to cram videos on it and play on a tv or my portabble philips dvd/ipod player
cant wait for the crack F you apple you should be ashamed
hope zune kills ya
