CNET has a review of the HP Photosmart D7160 rated it 7/10 and writes;
The good: Fast and excellent text prints; pleasing photo and graphics prints; dedicated photo-paper tray; prints from an iPod; great bundled software; prints digital video stills. The bad: Photo prints are a bit slow; inability to edit photos on the printer unless in the beginner’s wizard mode; can’t make bordered 4×6 prints directly from the printer; can’t sort images by date range.”

Trusted Reviews has a review of the HP Photosmart D7160 rated it 8/10 and writes;
“The quality of prints produced by this machine is generally good. Text comes out dense and black, though with some feathering into the paper. Colour block graphics are clean and solid, with good gradations of tone. Photo prints at best quality and on HPs Advanced Photo paper were very good, with exceptionally smooth transitions from shade to shade, high levels of detail and natural, well-reproduced colours. Prints on HPs Premium Plus glossy paper were a little grainy, though you have to look closely to see this.”

CNET has a user review of the HP Photosmart D7160 and writes;
“Speed: Well, I have not seen the 12-14 second photo print times that HP advertises, but that is probably for Draft quality. I have seen a photo materialize in about 20 seconds on Normal quality. That is amazing unto itself. I am very impressed with print times…Pros: great photo quality, low cost per photo, individual inks and fast printing. Cons: average software bundle.”

Imaging-resource has a user review of the HP Photosmart D7160 and writes;
“Solidly built with a new ink set and the ability to detect paper type based on a simple barcode scheme, the D7160 promises very fast (and quiet) prints with its large printhead from either its card reader, PictBridge port or USB connection. HP’s Advanced photo paper comes out dry and isn’t ruined by a little water, either. Unfortunately, I found print quality (even with Photo Fix enabled) to be oversaturated compared to similar Canon and Epson printers…On the plus side, the small LCD displayed images accurately and the menu and button system made it easy to tap into special features like sepia printing and arrange multiple images on a larger sheet of paper. Startup was quick and so was shutdown.”

Vnunet has a review of the HP Photosmart D7160 rated it 4/5 and writes;
“Judged purely on its own merit, HP’s Photosmart D7160 is capable of producing some extremely good photo-quality prints. Deep, realistic colours demonstrate a complete lack of the unnatural pinkish or yellowish hues that sometimes spoil inkjet photo printouts. Grain is entirely absent also.”

PCworld has a review of the HP Photosmart D7160 rated it 83/100 and writes;
“Many nice details help this printer stand out a bit from the pack. You can adjust the 2.4-inch LCD’s angle to anywhere between 0 and 90 degrees for viewing comfort. Handles on the printer’s sides make it easy to move. The impressively comprehensive paper User Guide is actually better than the HTML-based guide. An optional automatic duplexer for double-sided printing costs $80…Pros: superior photo quality, very easy to use. Cons: Photos falter on plain paper, flimsy output tray.”

ClubPrinter has a review of the HP Photosmart D7160 and writes;
“Unfortunately, I found print quality (even with Photo Fix enabled) to be inferior to similar Canon and Epson printers. And less compelling than hassle-free 4×6 dye sub printing on Kodak EasyShare, Hi-Touch and Canon printers…On the plus side, the small LCD displayed images accurately and the menu and button system made it easy to tap into special features like sepia printing and arrange multiple images on a larger sheet of paper. Startup was quick and so was shutdown. My only complaint, sadly, was image quality.”
