HP Compaq 6515b Laptop

The HP Compaq 6515b is a business laptop features AMD processors, 80-160GB HDDs, XP Pro on up to Vista Business, EV-DO or HSDPA 3G connectivity, ATI X1250 graphics and 802.11n WiFi. There’s room for the up to 4GB of RAM, and the standard selection of optical drives, including a DVD+/-RW SuperMulti drive with LightScribe. The 6515b is equipped with a 14.1-inch 1280 x 800 display and it weighs 5.6 pounds.

CNET reviews the HP Compaq 6515b Laptop;

“On our resource-intensive DVD battery drain tests, the HP Compaq 6515b lasted an impressive 2 hours, 31 minutes; you can expect longer life during typical Windows use. As with most of the performance tests, the HP came in second to the Lenovo ThinkPad T60P, which lasted 3 hours, 19 minutes. …The bottom line: The HP Compaq 6515b notebook computer offers enterprise-level features and decent performance at a price that’s friendly to small business.”

“Although it’s one of the fastest AMD processors I’ve reviewed so far, it’s still no match for systems such as the Gateway NX570X, which loads a midrange 2-GHz Intel Core 2 Duo T7200 processor. Intel clearly has the dominant mobile-processor line when it comes to performance. Subjectively, it took a while to load Vista Business and all of HPs applications during start-up.The bottom line: The HP Compaq 6515b is a business laptop with plenty of wireless features, but competition from Lenovo and Gateway makes it a tough sell.”

“The 14.1-inch widescreen display with a standard 1280 x 800-pixel resolution isn’t the brightest we’ve seen but is fine for an office environment. The onscreen images looked great from all but the most extreme angles. The system’s ATI Radeon X1250 graphics chip produced a decent 3DMark03 score of 1,397, which means the HP Compaq 6515b can handle most graphics well but will stumble with 3D gaming. “

CNET Asia has a preview of the HP Compaq 6515b Laptop and writes;

“Unless you are a strong proponent of widescreen LCDs, we feel that the QuickLook feature is not strong enough to recommend upgrading from the current nx and nc series. But as one of the few wide-aspect ratio LCD notebooks in the market with a strong corporate feature set, the HP Compaq 6515b should find favor with corporate customers looking at value-for-money propositions.”
