LaptopMag has a review of the Garmin StreetPilot c550 rated it 4.5/5 and writes;
“We love that the device has no physical buttons but only onscreen controls (save for the on/off switch), and that it works surprisingly quickly when looking up a POI or creating a route. Our only quibble is that one of the routing views doesn’t constantly show you which direction your next turn will be; it only tells you when you near the turn…We also liked how the c550 presents traffic data: You can browse all the trouble spots in your area on one screen, so that you quickly know where the problems are. Subscriptions cost $60 per year, and traffic data is available in 49 metropolitan areas.”

CNET has a review of the Garmin StreetPilot c550 rated it 7.7/10 and writes;
The good: The Garmin StreetPilot c550 offers real-time traffic information, Bluetooth, and MP3 playback. The compact GPS device also has an accurate receiver and text-to-speech functionality. The bad: The Garmin StreetPilot c550 is occasionally slow to acquire a satellite fix, and it’s a bit pricey.”

GPSinformation has a review of the Garmin StreetPilot c550 and writes;
“The c550 comes with preloaded maps of Europe or North America and includes automatic routing, 2D or 3D map perspective, and turn-by-turn voice directions that speak street names, making “heads-up” navigation easy…”Garmin Lock” is an anti-theft feature that disables the unit from performing any functions until you type in a specific 4-digit PIN or take the unit to a predetermined location. It is also an MP3 player and accepts customized points of interest (POIs) such as school zones and safety cameras.”

GPSlodge has a review of the Garmin StreetPilot c550 and writes;
“First let’s explore the Bluetooth features more. The StreetPilot C550 has that ability to work with over 200 models of mobile phones…The StreetPilot C550 is also Traffic enabled, with the receiver built into the power plug. This is a big plus over models that have the antenna as a separate part floating around your dashboard…On top of this, the screen is much improved, as it uses the anti-glare technology found in the higher end 2700 series models. It is a significant improvement over the current C300 series line.”
