Garmin Nuvi 1690 is available in the fourth quarter of 2009. The new Nuvi 1690 comes with a free 2-year nüLink! subscription and includes Google Local Search to find local POIs for US residents. It also features hands-free calls, fuel efficient routes, route planning and bluetooth wireless technology.

“Navigating with the 1690 mirrored the experience I’ve had with other Nuvi GPS devices. The 1690 generated good routes with no surprises, and its text-to-speech feature worked as expected. Lane assist with junction view provided a clear visual for my interstate highway exit tests. The Bluetooth phone interface paired easily with my LG LX9900 phone and worked well as a speakerphone.”
