I had trouble with the start/stop button, then realized that if you also accidentally press the buttons surrounding the inside button that starts/stops, it doesn't function. If I make sure I am only pressing the red button, then I have had no problems.

I wonder what's up with your cameras. I've updated twice already with no problems. It's been a while but I think the on-screen messages were something like.

Do you want the update.?
Downloading update
Exiting Flip software and installing update. DON'T UNPLUG THE CAMERA
Done.

As for not being able to access your videos...why not? The Flip shows up on your system as a plug-and-play flash drive under whatever OS you are using; even Linux. Your videos are right there n the DCIM/100VIDEO folder.

Did you contact the company in regrads to your software problems? There is an email form on their site www.theflip.com. They got back to me rather quickly. I am going back and forth with them.

I can't even seem to get my software to work. As soon as I insert the camera the software opens, says reading video and then gives me a Macromedia Projector needs to close message almost immediately. I installed the update they gave me, but still no luck, same problem. And this is on two computers, very different computers, same problem on both.

Hi Lisa,
Did you get an answer to your question? I'm having the same exact problem! I'm hoping there's a solution. I've also contacted tech support.

I haven't seen anyone else having this problem, but I've only used it twice and when I was downloading videos to my PC, it said there was an Flip software update ready. But first, I had to remove my old Flip software. I think I did, but it was not very clear what I was supposed to remove, then the new software wouldn't load. Now I have no way to view my videos because there is no Flip software on my camera or PC. I have looked everywhere for Flip download on the internet, but I don't believe it is there anywhere.

Also, my on and off button is very difficult. I have to press it about 6 times to get it to turn on and actually have to shut off the whole camera to get it to turn off. I have contacted them and will see what they say.
