+ REVIEWS:

Brighthand reviews the Cingular 8525 and writes:
“While it would have been nice to see some slightly flashier upgrades for the price, such as more memory, or an improved screen, the 8525 delivers in two critical areas–wireless performance and speed. The addition of 3G support is unlikely to single-handedly woo many users of the HTC Wizard, save for those to whom Internet speed is absolutely critical. But for others, it’s a distinct step up from its predecessor. Though not without fault, the 8525 is a model of what makes a good data device: solid performance, exhaustive wireless options, and a reliable design. Bottom Line: A solid evolutionary improvement over the older Wizard design, with the advantages of wireless broadband, even if it doesn’t break the bank elsewhere. “

Mobileburn reviews the Cingular 8525, they write:
“The device also supports the 2100MHz UMTS band 900 and 1800MHz GSM bands used in Europe and much of the rest of the world. Talk time battery life was just short of 4.5 hours in our test. Standby time, something we don’t always have the luxury of testing properly, was an impressive 8 days. Audio quality seems to be good in general, though the speakerphone’s audio was a bit tinny sounding and low in volume if the 8525 user’s mouth was more than 2 feet or so away from the microphone.”

MobileTechReview reviews the Cingular 8525, they rated the phone 4.5/5 and write:
“Processor speed is doubled, the camera is up from 1.3 to 2MP, Microsoft Direct Push email is built-in (AKU 2.3), Bluetooth is now version 2.0 and the phone has 3G that supports both UMTS and HSDPA. Cingular’s growing 3G network is mostly the faster HSDPA flavor, making for a very pleasant web browsing experience if you’re in a 3G ‘hood…An excellent device for power users who need to do email, view and edit Word and Excel documents, view PowerPoint presentations and PDFs on the go and surf the web. Not just a business device, the Cingular 8525 and TyTN are great multimedia playmates with good support for music and video playback.”

Laptopmag reviews the Cingular 8525, they rated the phone 4/5 and write:
“In addition to the upgrade to HSDPA, the 8525 has several new features. A faster 400-MHz Samsung processor adds speed to Windows Mobile apps. More notable is the BlackBerry-style trackwheel, located on the left-hand side…Pros:Good data speeds with HSDPA, Broad keyboard, Useful new scroll wheel, Wi-Fi and stereo Bluetooth supported, Sharp 2-MP camera. Cons:HSDPA network still being rolled out, Push-to-talk feature not yet supported.”

Infosync reviews the Cingular 8525, they rated the phone 84% and write:
“Calling on the 8525 is solid, with plenty of functions to make calling easier. In addition to speed dial and recent-call listing, the Cingular 8525 allows while-you-type searching of your contact list from within the phone screen. With the keyboard closed, you still have the onscreen touch keys, which are large enough to be usable, as well as voice commands, though not speaker-independent voice dialing. Calls sound good, though a bit hollow, and background noise was kept to a minimum…The phone is fast in every way: over the 3G network, Wi-Fi, and even the Bluetooth 2.0 connection.”

CNET reviews the Cingular 8525, they rated the phone 8/10 and write:
“At 4.4×2.2×0.8 inches, the 8525 certainly isn’t compact by any means, but it’s thinner than the Cingular 8125 and fits comfortably in the hand. The 8525 is attractive with a polished, charcoal gray color scheme, and also has solid construction…Colors are vibrant and rich and text and images are sharp–all of which contribute to a great viewing experience, whether you’re looking at Web pages, videos, or documents.”

PCmag reviews the Cingular 8525, they rated the phone 4/5 and write:
“The 8525 is the first global, high-speed smart phone, able to tap into mid-speed UMTS or high-speed HSDPA networks in more than 50 countries, including most of Western Europe…HSDPA also has another, very cool advantage over EV-DO. You can make phone calls and surf the Web, or use the phone as a modem, at the same time…PROS: HSDPA and Wi-Fi for high-speed Internet, Zippy processor, Stereo Bluetooth. CONS: Not the greatest keyboard, Earpiece could be louder, Some hiss on calls.”
