Windows Hack: Make XP look Like Vista
Garmin C510/530 GPS Hack
Phil Hornby has published a step-by-step guide for hacking the Garmin C510/530 GPS units to make the ‘text to speech directions’ feature available on them, just like the newer Garmin C550 and C580 GPS units.

“The C5xx range share the same firmware. How much hardware is different between the models is a subject for debate - but there is obviously enough for the firmware to recognise which features should be enabled and which shouldn’t. For example, the playing of MP3’s requires no extra hardware at all - but you can’t do it on the C510. Not that I’d want to. Or maybe I would, if I could ;-)”

PCWorld has posted an article on which video-capture devices you should use for posting your video online (Youtube, metacafe, etc).

No surprise: A MiniDV camcorder will give you the best-quality video. But if convenience is a priority, use a Webcam and skip the camera phone, because cellular services limit file sizes. (Click on the icon below to see our chart of video hardware.)

Download XBox 360 Linux Bootloader
The XBox 360 Linux Bootloader is now available for download.

In order to run this current loader, you will need to execute the compiled version through serial cable, after booting a modified shader via the king kong disc (with a firmware modded dvd-rom), and you will need to compile your own linux kernel aswell. This is obviously for the more savvy of the xbox users, but keep in mind this is a very early release with limited support (samsung sata drivers are not supported yet, but hitachi confirmed working great).

How to Stop E-mail Spam
Getting tired of getting penny-stock tips, pharmaceutical offers, and phishing attempts in your mailbox? Erik Larkin explains how you can stop e-mail spam using disposable e-mail addresses;

“With the right e-mail service, you can set up unique, disposable e-mail addresses for any transaction in which you’re worried about getting spammed. The e-mail arrives in your regular inbox, but if you start to receive spam from the disposable address, you can just turn it off. In addition, the address can help you pinpoint exactly which company sold you out.”
