Gamespot reviews the Castlevania: The Dracula X Chronicles and writes:
“The Good: Finally, an English version of Rondo of Blood; Rondo remake boasts 3D graphics, new audio, and other enhancements; You can play the original 2D Rondo too; Symphony of the Night is even better thanks to the new translation and voice work; Between the three games, you’ll reap hours of old-school side-scrolling fun. The Bad: Rondo’s difficulty and steep learning curve aren’t for everyone ;The other two games are locked until you find certain items in the remake. ”

IGN reviews the Castlevania: The Dracula X Chronicles and writes:
“You can also tackle the game with another character, Maria Renard. Maria is a young girl that Richter frees towards the beginning of the game (she’s very well hidden), but after you meet her you can select her at any time from the stage select menu. Maria uses, surprisingly, a bunch of animals as weapons, including her main attack which is releasing small doves at the enemy (wicked!). It may sound a little odd, and while she’s certainly a vivid contrast to the game’s otherwise dark elements, she’s a great deal of fun to use and helps mix things up a bit.”
