Canon DC210 is similar to Canon DC220 but targeted at entry-level market. Canon DC210 features 35x optical zoom/1000x digital zoom lens, 2.7-inch widescreen LCD monitor, smooth zoom control, DIGIC DV II image processor and DVD-R/-RW Dual layer recording format.

“The Canon DC210 is an entry level DVD camcorder with a solid set of manual controls, but a serious dearth of connection options. We like the handling and menu operation, for the most part. DVD is inherently easy to use, thus it enjoys a wide popularity with non-techies. But the lack of a USB port can pose some serious problems when it comes to editing or moving the footage off of the disc. If you have a PC, you’re probably fine… as long as it’s relatively new and can read these types of discs. ”

“The camera’s 35X optical zoom works extremely well, focusing very quickly when you stop zooming (you can zoom up to 5X when shooting stills). At its top setting, the adjustable zoom speed, which has three settings, is among the fastest we’ve seen. A few nice video effects are built in, including one called Art that applies a solarizer filter and produces an effective washed-out color scheme. The night setting works quite well in low light if you can avoid jittery movement…Pros: low price, many controls. Cons: No USB port, low still-image quality ”
