ITreviews previewed the Broken Sword: The Angel of Death, they write:
“The puzzles themselves have the familiar range from laughably easy to fiendishly hard (via totally illogical) which will please hardened adventure gamers no end. Some puzzles are on George’s PDA when he’s trying to hack into programs and involve positioning refracting mirrors on a map…It’s old-fashioned, and not without bugs and minor irritations, but this fourth instalment of the Broken Sword franchise is fun and funny and will happily entrance you with its mystical treasure hunt.”
Strategyinformer previewed the Broken Sword: The Angel of Death, they rated the game 7.2/10 and write:
“There can be no doubt that the game has great humour and immersive gameplay. The quality of the storyline, however, fluctuates wildly – being frequently brilliant but occasionally atrocious. While the general quality of the story is top-notch, every now and then either a massive loop-hole seems to creep in or a complete section of plot seems missing or unexplained…The game’s graphics speak for themselves and personally I think the voice-acting is absolutely brilliant; although I’ve heard people say otherwise.”
Eurogamer previewed the Broken Sword: The Angel of Death, they rated the game 7/10 and write:
“Although the characters are still very much in the traditional ‘archetypal’ mould that resonates throughout the entire series, the voice acting is about ten times better than tiresomely stereotypical Sleeping Dragon… It’s got excellent production values, a great script, solid cast, a delightful orchestral score and some of the most challenging puzzles seen in a videogame for ages. But for mere mortals, trying to play through without the walkthrough will be among the most daunting experiences in videogaming, and it’s there where we fell out of love with The Angel of Death.”
