Notebook Review have reviewed the Asus G1 and writes;
“The G1 keyboard has a good feel; it is very solid at every edge with a slight spring toward the middle. The keys are responsive and seem to have a very slightly deeper than average travel to them…The gaming and performance of the G1 is great. To date this is one of the most powerful (<15.4” screen) gaming solutions in the world today. The looks are different from the norm, eye catching and well thought out. The screen is excellent, build quality is excellent. Overall my expectations have been met and exceeded. I highly recommend this notebook for anyone who wants to have good overall performance, play games, and own something a little bit different."
CNET have reviewed the Asus G1 where they rate the laptop 6.9/10 and write;
“Unfortunately, the Asus G1’s Nvidia GeForce Go 7700 GPU didn’t put up much of a fight when compared to the latest and greatest GPU–the GeForce Go 7950GTX–which is found in both the XPS M1710 and the WidowPC. With 63 frames per second (FPS) in Quake 4 and only 33fps in F.E.A.R.–both at 1,024×768–the G1 just can’t compete with these specialized 17-inch gaming monsters. It’s a David-and-Goliath story, but this time, Goliath wins. Lest we sound too negative, the Asus G1 has more than enough power for mainstream gamers…The bottom line: The Asus G1 is an interesting concept–a gaming laptop squeezed into a midsize case–but its lack of 3D muscle will fail to satisfy hardcore gamers.”
NotebookReview have reviewed the Asus G1 and conclude;
“This laptop is all gaming, inside and out. The look is sleek, polished, and solid while the performance is admirable. The price is right for the feature set, and provides you with the type of system required for the gamer-on-the-go. The laptop hits the mark for the gaming enthusiast, the purist may prefer a more powerful 17 inch or larger model, and those waiting for a DirectX 10 laptop should just pass on by.Pros: One of the best gaming laptops in this screen/body size, Sleek, solid design, Unique, cool features, 2 year global warranty, Upgrade eligibility to Vista, $1799 is an affordable price for a gaming laptop. Cons: XP Media Center rather than XP Pro, OLED may be difficult to customize, Few options with Direct Flash, Slight Light leakage, Bloatware, No ExpressCard Slot, LCD can wobble when shaken”
XoticPC have reviewed the Asus G1 and conclude;
“When viewing this laptop you can really appreciate the workmanship & design of this laptop. The design is very sleek. I also liked the hinge design on this machine. The LCD is sturdy and shows little flex. Pressing on the lid does not exhibit any ripple on the screen. The view horizontal angles are great. The vertical viewing angles allow some movement up and down and viewing remains clear. There are 15 brightness levels, the lowest setting is dark but still viewable. The screen is bright and I feel comfortable viewing at 8/15 brightness level. …Overall this a good laptop that is unique and has numerous amounts of features & accessories at a good price. The performance is great, and I would consider this to be a good portable gaming computer.”
