Notebook-Review has a review of the Apple MacBook Pro Core 2 Duo;

“The 15.4″ screen of the MacBook Pro screen is beautiful. I have the matte version, and the colors do not seem washed out or over exaggerated. The caveat is the lack of a higher resolution. While 1440×900 is acceptable, 1680×1050 would be desirable, especially on a model that is aimed at professionals…Pros: Added larger hard drive, FireWire 800, and dual-layer DVD burner; 1″ thick; very portable for a 15″, improved battery life, great screen. Cons: Needs more USB ports; speakers are weak; no higher resolution screen available.”

CNET has a review of the Apple MacBook Pro Core 2 Duo rated it 7.4/10 and writes;

“The good: Sleek design; illuminated keyboard; built-in Webcam and remote control; can run Windows XP via Boot Camp; adds FireWire 800 support. The bad: Lacks media card reader; only 90 days of toll-free technical support. The bottom line: If you’ve been holding off on making the leap to a MacBook because of the lack of Core 2 Duo processors, this new update adds the latest Intel CPUs and provides a great overall computing experience, albeit at a premium price.”

Pcmag has a review of the Apple MacBook Pro Core 2 Duo rated it 4.5/5 and writes;

“the MacBook Pro 15-inch achieved stellar speeds in both multimedia and office productivity applications. Bragging rights for gaming still belong to Dell, but the MacBook Pro 15-inch (Core 2 Duo) did improve over the previous MacBook Pro 15-inch (Core Duo) on a variety of gaming benchmark tests. I saw a 40 percent improvement in 3DMark 2005, 39 percent in Doom 3, and a whopping 120 percent in Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory…Pros: fastest Core 2 Duo processor available, terrific performance scores. Best-looking laptop on the market, now has a FireWire 800 port and can burn dual-layer DVDs. Cons:Battery life could be better.”

Macworld has a review of the Apple MacBook Pro Core 2 Duo and writes;

“Apple’s latest update has made great laptops even better. Even if you make heavy use of Adobe’s Creative Suite or other applications that still aren’t yet available as Universal binaries (i.e., that can take full advantage of Intel processors), you will still benefit from buying the Core 2 Duo MacBook Pro. The only real concern is economic: it’s been a while since Apple reduced its prices on pro laptops, and though they keep getting better, I wish they’d get a little cheaper, too. If that’s not a concern for you, though, you won’t find much else to criticize in the MacBook Pro.”

LaptopMag has a review of the Apple MacBook Pro Core 2 Duo rated it 3.5/5 and writes;

“Running MobileMark 2005, the MacBook Pro’s battery lasted 2 hours and 53 minutes with Wi-Fi off, compared with the average runtime of 3:22 for mainstream notebooks. We also ran a DVD rundown test and got 2 hours and 58 minutes with Wi-Fi on (compared with 3 hours and 5 minutes on the 13.3-inch MacBook). That’s a decent runtime considering the larger size of this display, but the bottom line is that you should go with the slower (and cheaper) 2.16-GHz processor if you want more endurance.”

Digital Trends has a review of the Apple MacBook Pro Core 2 Duo rated it 8.5/10 and writes;

“The new MacBook Pro Core 2 Duo has a super-bright screen with amazing contrast and life-like colors. The optional ‘glossy’ screen is truly a work of art. Not only does the glossy overlay greatly enhance colors and make video pop, it does so with a minimal amount of glare or reflection…Highs: Runs cooler and faster than previous MacBook Pro systems; 6X SuperDrive; bright display. Lows: ExpressCard/34 instead of PC Card; large power brick; cables do not match the look of the system”
