“The concern with the AL2216W is that the design and picture quality clearly hint at a product being designed to hit a price point. Design is uninspiring, connectivity is poor (no HDCP) and picture quality is just ok. This monitor truly shows that colour vibrancy and contrast ratio are a lot more important for enjoying images than just a low response time. If you’re in the market for a 22in screen I could only recommend looking at spending more on the IIyama or Viewsonic. Of course, if you truly value quality and connectivity over size you’ll look at something like the Samsung 215TW, assuming you’ve got the budget.”

“This is definitely annoying, but the AL2216W perfectly compensates for this defect thanks to better than average color rendering. We hope that all monitors sold will have the same. Someone reported to us that the colors were too dull. We haven´t seen their monitor but there are two possibilities. Either the monitor is not good, or – it is also possible – the monitor is just like the one that we tested. This means that it has less brighter colors than the competition, which often tends to oversaturate colors. So, after comparison, the AL2216W might indeed seem a bit dull..”

“TThe big kicker for me was the desktop space. Much easier to work with documents…
Overall, its not the best gaming monitor (But does a very good job still.) but for a general work monitor, I think its a fantastic deal for the price! Well worth it if your office needs a upgrade.”

“Brightness is also good. I can produce a nice, bright image at a brightness setting of around 20. Strong ambient light doesn’t present any real problem. There is a little backlight bleeding at top and bottom which becomes noticeable when the screen is dark, but overall not much to worry about. Blacks can look slightly washed-out when ambient light is low thanks to the 700:1 contrast ratio, but again, this isn’t a major distraction and unless you’re looking for it, you’re unlikely to notice. Overall, this is an excellent screen for the price. This is pretty much the cheapest 22″ widescreen LCD around, and it’s a very nice product. I’m more than happy with it. For gaming and movies, it’s great, thanks to fast response time and no input lag. For general use, it’s just a nice screen. “
